Unlockable Energy Sword Blade Textures

What if instead of just the normal energy sword, there could be unlockable blades. Instead of the two blade design, you can get a different blade from req packs. Basically like a gun skin, except it changes what the sword looks. What do you think I think this would be so cool!

Inb4 the “I want the katana skin” horde shows up!

Sword skins would be cool, as long as they stayed covenant themed. I don’t want the weapon to branch out into silly designs.

I think it’d be cool, but at the same time that would interfere with the REQ variations. I mean, you react differently depending on what kind of sword you see your opponent carrying.

Maybe color variations for arena, kind of like visors? Idk, I feel like it’d get confusing if there are still REQ variations.

I dont like this idea,as then I couldnt determine what sword the opponent is using.

Agreed… As long as it doesn’t branch out of control into silly designs, a few cool looking skins would be fun.

So instead of a slightly different color to the blades of the different REQs, we could see an entirely different shape to the blade as well?
I’d be down. I mean we know that there’s gotta be dozens of hilt designs across Sangheilios…
I want one like the Silent Shadow has. Ohh or maybe the sword that Thorne got from Demarco which Demarco took from Gek.

I’d be down to lug around an Energy Sword with a red blade…

Id think it would be funny to have some weird designs no? Energy sword in the shape of a gold club. I’m still waiting for the funny assassinations

H2A actually does contain a Red Energy Sword, and it is beautiful. Much nicer than H5’s infected sword.

Nah it would be just as intimidating as a splice assault rifle skin it means nothing. You can pick up other people’s swords and it would have the skin just like another player’s dropped weapon.

You’re telling me you react in the same way when you see player carrying a normal energy sword and when you see them carrying Prophet’s Bane? I doubt it.

Most energy swords are the same shape anyway, the color and shading on the variants would be the same they are all mostly the same anyway.

Do you really see a person with a prophets bane :stuck_out_tongue: It doesn’t have to be very big changes to the sword design. Maybe some barbs, or side guards. If players can have different armor to react to, then sword texture doesn’t seem like a big deal.

This is pretty much the opposite opinion of your original post. People don’t “react” to armor. That’s just ridiculous. 99% of the time nobody notices what armor their opponent is wearing, it’s a simple fact, and they most certainly don’t “react” to armor, that’s ludicrous.

A different sword color or design though? Immediate reaction, because it signifies “this is not a normal energy sword”

If you don’t react to armor like “most people”, then “most people” would not care, or even like the sword idea. Don’t come to my forum to hate on ideas, just to either criticize or support have a good evening

Please show me exactly where he hated on your idea. Either I’m blind or you’re making things up.

Give me a curveblade. No energysword, just a standard metal Sangheili curveblade

Mkay I have noticed that humans have tended to fight themselves just because they want to. When and if this develops into an argument is unwanted, so stay on topic. Good morning.

I’m just saying, that reacting to armor is not a thing that happens. In warzone, I walk in a base and there 12 -Yoinking!- guys in there. Did I die because I was so overwhelmed by the 12 different armor combinations? Was I so awestruck by a guy wearing Achilles that I just immediately ran away and said “NOPE”? Come on man.

My original point, and what is still my point, is that differing sword colors/shapes messes with the REQ variations, and would confuse players. It would be impossible to tell how careful you need to be in regards to that person.

The swords are already mostly the sameness shape chill it wouldn’t change color either. I don’t understand the problem with a small texture change to a weapon with near identical variations. Prophets bane doesn’t have to change texture I didn’t have that in mind.
