Unlockable Abilities might not be so Bad!

You never know the "unlock-able abilities might be a one time use thing! like equipment in halo 3! but you just start with them! I think 343 are doing that! They won’t make the same mistake Bungie did with reach!

Thoughts?

But like equipment, it would most likely re-spawn after a short time.

I believe that Halo should stay an ARENA FPS, where everyone starts with the same weapons, grenades, abilities and whatnot. Never should customization affect gameplay, because it is impossible for it to be completely balanced.

Only way to include any abilities, powerups, or equipment is to put them on the map, and 343 needs to make sure this stays true. If they don’t follow this then I’m sorry, 343 needs to shape it’s act up.

I don’t think it will be like Halo 3 equipment.

I didn’t like equipment in Halo 3: it was way too powerful for its re-spawn being so crazy short.

“Hurr derr I throw power drain orb, now you all one hit kills. Herr derr I have another after 30s and now I get free multi-kill again.”

and don’t even get me started on bubble shields.

No dude, we want the game to be as unbalanced as possible so we can use the overpowered stuff that we unlock later and beat the kids that don’t have them even harder than before! Just like in those games with unlockable progression systems! The higher leveled players get higher faster while the noobs slowly catch up and quit because they’re not having any fun.

I agree with your post 100%.

  1. We might as well just take out power weapons and fight with ARs. The power drain was underpowered as hell and was mainly used to stop vehicles because of how bad it was.

  2. Power drain had its use but was easy enough to dodge if you knew how to not walk into it. The chance of you getting a multi-kill wasn’t that high because if its 2v1, you wouldn’t throw the power drain because you’d be dead already.

  3. Get inside and throw a gernade to blow it up. If you don’t want to, just leave so you don’t get killed because you wanted to be a MLG pro and kill the guy inside it.

So throwing power drains into lifts and having them damage a ton of people didn’t happen? huh, I didn’t know that.

Power weapons are completely different than equipment. You can’t even see what equipment that someone has. Also, power weapons are more controllable as to when they will spawn and how much one power weapon can equate to. Power weapons are consistent because they are not just one time deals where they go away afterwards. You see someone with a sniper rifle, and you know that he is going to keep having it for a while until he dies or until he shoots 8/12 times. There is no way of knowing that a person has equipment, so they can use it, catch you completely by surprise, and then go get it again in almost no time at all.

I just want to know what the “perks” system is, gahh

Meh, I disapprove of any customization affecting gameplay. We should all start the match with the same EVERYTHING.

Insanity is doing the same thing that produced bad results the last time, and expecting better results.

I feel like this game might turn into a futuristic version on COD if we don’t watch. Hopefully these “unlockable” abilities will affect the overall gameplay.

It’s true, and it’ll make me lose faith in 343 if they repeat the mistake.

No. Just get rid of them.
