This is so unlikely, like basically improbable to happen. But imagine if Infinite is Chief’s last game. How would you feel about this, would you be ok with it or disappointed? Like I said, this is so unlikely but it’s interesting to talk about.

It’s not as crazy as it sounds.
Look at Gears of War: they did manage to successfully transition to a different protagonist. I’d argue they did a good job of it too and are telling more interesting stories with better characters as a result.
Now… I know most people read the ‘last game’ bit and think that it means he’ll be killed off to achieve that, which I disagree with. It could be… but that would be a gamble.
Infinite is a spiritual reboot. In that mould it needs to set the franchise up for a bright future to come.
Chief’s ‘character’ has certainly evolved along the way. I’d argue its best incarnation was Halo 4: the problem is: where do you go from there? While I’m sure the way the Halo 5 story played out wasn’t the ‘right’ answer… finding that is not necessarily the easiest task.
It’s absolutely not something to be done lightly, but there are ways of doing it which could be good for the future of the franchise. There are also ways of doing it which would put it at serious jeopardy…
But I don’t want to :-/
No please. We haven’t even got to see his face.

If done right it could be a good end to Infinite. With how fond 343 was of showing Osiris’s faces I wouldn’t be surprised if they did with Chief/Blue Team.

I honestly don’t mind seeing his face at all. Would be nice to see all of Blue Team with their helmets off together at the very end.
You obviously mean if he is MIA?
I agreed with my wife to name our daughter Mia, only I know the real meaning .
Spartans never die, they just MIA.
That would be sad but chief fought in so many fights.
would be very disappointed if Chief went away for good. He is literally the face of xbox.

Sad yeah, but his story has to end at some point. Can’t go on forever.
Chiefs story will eventually have to come to an end, I doubt it will be anytime soon though. Infinite is suppose to be a reboot that we need to bring everyone back and bring this game back to life, killing off chief in the first game of a reboot would be a terrible idea. In my opinion.

The difference between Gears 4 and Halo: Infinite is that, Gears of War 3 officially ended Marcus Fenix’s fight. He found his father, he got vengeance for all of those Myrrah killed in her genocidal campaign, he stopped the Lambent with his fathers creation, and crippled if not eradicated the Locust Hive. His fight was concluded, there was no more story to tell for him. His son was a new take on a new fight with resurfacing foes that have been altered and changed.
In Halo, it’s always been Chief’s fight, even when you weren’t Chief.
Halo: Reach - You played as Noble Six who worked with Fire Team Noble to try and save the birth planet of Spartan-II’s. In the end you end up delivering Cortana to the Pillar of Autumn that is departing to save who they can. Which ends up being the Chief who goes on to continue the fight.
Halo 3: ODST - you’re an ODST who is trying to clean up the Covenant assaulting New Mombasa while the Chief chases down the Prophet of Regret. Chief eventually returns to finish the fight himself.
So far from what we’ve seen? It’s still Chief’s fight because it involves Cortana. They tried to thrust us into a new protagonist with Locke, that didn’t work out very will.

Precisely so, hence we both agree: if Infinite is Chief’s last game they need to ensure the stage is set for the baton to be passed

To another chief which is chief himself
I “hope” it is his last game. Imagine, the confrontation with his best friend has to be his last mission and the peak of emotional investment. Considering Halo Infinite to be the last chapter of the Reclaimer saga, Chief can’t get away with destroying Cortana and keeping shooting grunts after that like nothing happened. It has to be some sort of consequence and it wouldn’t fit Chief saying “Cortana, come back to me” and her “Alright” roll credits or Cortana saying “I knew we would be perfect together, join me” and Chief “Ok, fine” roll credits.
Gonna be honest, if by some crazy dumb move this is Chief’s last game, it’s my last Halo.
Chief dies . Halo dies .
