Unknown Spartan in the first lvl of halo ce

Linda 058
In the first level Pillar of Autumn, when you have to go to the escape pods through the cryo bay and your in the small room and looking out the window can see Covenant looking at your cryo tube. On the wall directly opposite to the window there are 2 large screens. One shows Master Chief 117 and the screen is mainly green with his vital stats like pulse and that. And the other screen is red with all the vital stat and pulse line flat and had Linda 058 as the name. Who is this mysterious Spartan?

I never noticed that. I’ll have to keep an eye out next time I do a play through. Is it on CE or CEA or Both? Not sure. ^^ Just making sure, I don’t start playing one and then it’s on the other.

John-117, disheartened over the death of his close teammate, took her to the cryo facilities where they immediately froze Linda’s body in a Cryo-chamber. The Pillar of Autumn then jumped to Installation 04. As the ship was shot down by Covenant forces, most of the Cryo-chambers, including Linda’s, were ejected as per standard UNSC procedure. She floated above the Halo for several days until after the destruction of the the Installation. Linda was then detected by Cortana and John, who were in a Longsword fighter. They picked her and two other cryo pods up, but both of the other occupants had died when their chambers failed. Linda was the only SPARTAN-II, other than John-117, who was near Installation 04 during the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.

When John-117, SSgt. Avery Johnson, Cpl. Locklear, Lt. Haverson, and PO2 Shiela Polaski captured the Covenant Assault Carrier Ascendant Justice, Linda, still in her Cryo-chamber, was brought aboard. Due to the extent of her injuries, she was left frozen until certified medical staff was available. She stayed on the Ascendant Justice until Dr. Halsey was rescued from Reach along with Frederic-104 and the survivors of his team. Dr. Halsey revived Linda aboard the UNSC Gettysburg. Doctor Halsey ended up performing surgery on Linda, transplanting to her newly flash-cloned kidneys and liver which needed to be replaced due to her injuries. The operation was succesful and Linda survived, but Doctor Halsey said it would be at least a week before she should even get out of bed; however, Linda disregarded this due to the imminent threat to Earth, and seemed to recover at least enough to go on a mission within a few days.

It only shows up in Remastered, little easter egg from 343.

Ahk thanks, a friend of mine found it and showed me. It’s Awesome that 343 are adding all this cool stuff to find in the campaign. The Little Moa, where did you get that from and does it continue on about Linda?

> where did you get that from and does it continue on about Linda?

lol

Click it, it will take you to a wikipedia page dedicated to Linda.

Someone hasn’t read the books…

lol they are called books. Try it sometime.

Read the books. Linda was the sniper specialist from Chief’s team.

Thank you friend. (•‿•)

Read the books “The Fall of Reach” and “First Strike”

Linda-058 Not an unnkown spartan to a good amount of fans but understandably still a mystery to other fans. Linda was a primary member of spartan blue team, the Master Chief’s squad. She was an expert sniper and one of the Chief’s best friends. She was seriously injured during the battle in an orbital dock above Reach when she, the MC and another spartan James were sent in to uphold the cole protocol by destroying a ship that failed to erase its navigation data. When the pillar of autumn came under attack alot of cryo tubes were ejected one of them was her.

Oooooohh… can’t wait. Got a copy of The Fall of Reach on the way now. That exerpt just whets the literary appetite! I’ve stayed away from Halo because I have been disappointed in other game-based books.

If 343 are really going to include linda fred and Kelly in Halo 4, they will really need to do a history lesson somewhere in the game, because like they said probably 95% of the player base has no idea who they are.

I would be thrilled if the first mission in H4 was actually a flashback mission. Like a dream chief has in cryo or something.

More people really need to read the books. They contain more than 40% of Halo’s story now. Probaly more.

Despite there being Books and Halo Legends that would counter it, originally Linda 058 is the Spartan that Player 2 controls in co-operative. When playing through single player there is a room behind the Cryo-Chamber Observation Room that show a graphic that is displayed red… this is ONLY visible in single player.

Her Spartan number as with Johns is a specific reference to Marathon; where John’s is 117 which many believe is a reference to a bible passage John 1:17, it isn’t in-fact it denotes the number 9 (1+1+7) making a direct reference to the fact you play Mjolnir Cyborg #9 in Marathon (who was known as Recon 54, another reference to 9)

In this strain, while playing single player Linda is KIA with her number 058 refering to the classically unlucky number 13.

A difficulty assuming canon within the Halo universe is that the Halo games themselves cover very little in-depth information; often making cryptic hints to history or providing basic information. This is made more difficult as it seems that non of the licensed media (books/videos) seem to have the authors who know much about the expanded universe created by each other. As such some large continuity issues that will require an official retcon at some point have arisen.

In-fact Linda is one of those such points that requires retcon, because in Legends she is Killed-in-Action during the attack on the Covenant Supercarrier in an effort to rescue Dr. Halsey, however she is present in the Book Fall of Reach as well as part of Halsey’s Diary (Reach Collectors & Legendary Editions) although only mentioned in passing that she was undergoing the same augmentation processor for Mjolnir V armour that John-117 was.

It is difficult to believe that she could be dead, yet be provided one of the militaries most expensive upgrade projects; then transferred to the Pillar of Autumn.

This has not exactly been helped by Halo Anniversay Edition showing that she is KIA, but again seemingly on the Pillar of Autumn; this also raises the question of who the second Spartan is during co-operative play.

The second spartan is not canon.

I don’t see any inconsistencies with lindas story like you’re mentioning…

She “died” on Aug 30, the date Reach was lost. Chief placed her in a cryo tube on the Autumn. The Autumn jettisoned the tubes before it crash landed on Halo. After CE, chief retrieves lindas tube from the wreckage. They go to reach and find Halsey and red team hiding there. Halsey manages to resurrect Linda.

Pretty straightforward.

Doesn’t really matter, people who bought gears of war 3 really didn’t complained aswell about all those new characters. the only thing we will get is a ton of new threads (Who the -Yoink- is X)
