Universal Settings

Hey all. Just wanted to get some more opinions.

For those that don’t know, I write about the HCS and have been a fan of competitive Halo since ~05.
In a lot of the posts I make outside of my writing, I’m trying to give feedback to make Halo a better competitive game. One of the things I reference plenty in these posts is the idea of “universal settings.” This is the idea that competitive players and casual/social players should play on the same settings; ie you’re playing on the same settings in Team Arena as you are in Team Skirmish.

This may seem like a good idea on paper, but it has failed in practice. For example, competitive players want autos nerfed and radar changed. I know many non-competitive players don’t agree. Not here to discuss that though. but we’ve never had this issue until H5, even up to H2A, comp players had their own playlist to play in where we were the only influence on our settings.

So, what I want to know is this:
Do you agree with the idea of “Universal Settings,” meaning that all players should play on the same settings, or do you think we should revert to our previous setup, where casual players could just play Team Slayer / Social etc and competitive players would have their own playlist? If you do think universal settings are a good idea, please explain why you believe that in your comment.

Thanks for the read and (hopefully) your input! <3

nah. Comp players should just have there own settings. The changes they want are a bit to much for causally skrurbs like me.

why dont they like the AR being a viable weapon?

The problem isn’t that we hate that it’s a viable weapon. A lot of players like me feel like it does a bit too much DPS and range.
