Halo community,
I have started pondering the future of our unique Universe. I feel that soon before we realize it the official torch of Halo will be passed to 343 industries. Now of course it technically has already been passed and Bungie doesn’t have anymore say in what goes on in the Halo universe but I don’t mean it in that sense. I currently go to the Bungie.net and HBO forums in order to discuss any issues, questions or topics when it comes to Halo. What I mean is pretty soon these locations will not be suited for these types of discussions because they are devoted to Bungie the company and not Halo the Universe. Does this mean I am suggesting that we abandon these fine establishments right away? Of course not!!! What I am merely suggesting is as a community we should start gradually migrating to these forums for talks about Halo. This also means encouraging others on Bungie.net to follow us. I only say this because I feel integrated into this community. We are unique because we have a passion and commitment to a universe that utterly amazes me. I went to see the Comicon Halo reach Panel that Bungie held. When I was in the crowd I heard as well as participated in an exuberant display of yells and screams for The opening music playing to the moment that we saw blocks being phased in the crowd. I believe that with this kind of community that we could actually have a Halo convention if we wanted too(Not saying that we want this). Personally I am going to try and focus on having these forums be my primary place to post anything Halo related.

The Halo universe is a great sci fi military story. Along with that has developed a community that shares in all sorts of media and runs the gambit of being everything from story tellers to trash talking gamers. I dont see that community going away. I dont see Bungie.net going away as being the center of the Halo world, just like I dont see HBO fading away as being the number 1 community site. With the new changes Bungie.net is going to be undergoing to fit with Halo Reach, I think we are going to be where we are for a long time.
Would I mind this becoming a center piece? no. Do I see it becoming one? Maybe eventually. This site is somewhat late to the game in my opinion and like all websites has to garner it’s base of lore nerds, passionate gamers…etc.
I am looking forward to being apart of that community that develops here and seeing just where I end up in the lineup.
In case there was a misconception. I am not suggesting that Bungie or HBO will no longer be a valuable resource. I actually started thinking about this when I listened to an interview on Ign three red lights podcast with Louis Wu from HBo along with a comment Brian Jarrad had made about most the staff now working on the new project and how a small selection of bungie staff will be working on Reach post launch. I hope to see this become the outlet that will inevitably replace the bungie forums. And the more support we give the new holders of the Halo future is the better.
I’m here to basically get a forum with some community and fast response, but without the -Yoink- on the bnet forums. It’s just full of trolls.
