Unique Weapon Ideas

Put simply: What kind of new and exciting weapons would you like to see in H5G? I’m not talking about the new rocket launcher or anything like that, I’m talking about weapon ideas rarely, if ever, seen in a video game before, such as CE’s introduction of the Needler’s Supercombine, or Titanfall’s Smart Pistol. Even if they are just gimmicks, they can be a lot of fun to use and play around with, and like the Needler did, perhaps they may stick in our hearts.

Anyway, ideas, people!

I wanted a true covenant plasma rifle that mirrors the plasma pistol. Rapid fire, with a charge shot that can take down shields at distance via scope.

Not a new weapon, but I would also like the needler to reload on its own. Similar to how other covenant weapons cool down, the needler could teload needles 1 by 1 over time as well as all at once manually.

*Manipulator
A forerunner gauntlet that allows the user to pick up small objects and throw them at enemies or friendlies. It also has an attack mode that unleashes a discharge of electric energy at foes.

What about a needle grenade? Needles home in on nearest spartans within range.

Designation Rifle:

Affects the nuclear stability of the surface which the Rifle fires at, making a half-dead landmine of intense gravitational pull not visible outside of specialized HUD sensors.

A primitive plasma shotgun, one that fires a continuous stream, basically an electro-magnetic flamethrower.
Similar to effect to the reeger carbine from mass effect.

I’d like one like the Forerunner weapon seen in Halo Origins. That thing would be so much fun.

Just had an idea for a Needle Rifle variant. Semi auto pulls send out high speed needles. Holding the trigger sends out a stream of homing needles that follow after where that first high-speed needle went. Bonus homing ability of you keep the reticle red.

If you miss that first needle the homing ability fails.

The Water Gun: (AKA The Hydra)
Faction: UNSC
Range: Short-Medium (Shorter than the Battle Rifle)
Capacity: 7 Gallons

Description:

The Water Gun shoots a stream of water. The water is shot at such a high pressure that it can penetrate armor. The weapon itself would work in a similar way to the Covenant Focus Rifle, or the Sentinel Beam, where as long as you hold the trigger it will continuously shoot.

The water gun however doesn’t overheat or reload. It instead causes a lot steam to come out of the gun, it will still allow the user to shoot, however the user will have a harder time seeing what is in front of them, and the reticle will turn blue, making locating enemies harder. The user can still see their HUD (Motion Tracker, Ammo, etc.) The steam will fade after the user has waited to shoot. The steam will also consume ammo but at a slower rate than shooting, doing both will drain the water faster.

An EMP will cause the weapon to explode, possibly killing the user. If the user survives then they are forced to their other weapon. A plasma pistol overcharge must hit the weapon for it to explode.

The water gun can put out fire and can cut through stone.

Gravity Ball Launcher- A unique and deadly Promethean weapon, the GBL shoots a hard light enclosed metallic ball which rolls to its target guided by a weapon mounted laser site.
When the ball reaches its target, it opens and causes a distorted gravity field (about the size of a bubble shield) to open up. Anything within this gravity field is violently thrown to the side. Infantry are “spattered,” light vehicles are are pushed uncontrollably spinning, and heavy vehicles are flipped over.
If shot into the air, anything caught within would be slammed to the ground.

Anti gravity grenade. Made by brutes. If it is thrown and lands near enemy, it causes a short drainage of shields while the enemy goes flying in the air.

Whoever said the needle grenade…love the idea

I want a brute spike precision rifle. 14 shot magazines, 6 shots to kill

Forerunner weapons as seen in halo origins I believe.

HALO RIFLE
Faction: UNSC
Description: Reverse-engineered from immense Forerunner WMDs, this prototypical UNSC heavy infantry weapon fires a concentrated burst of radiation that destroys the neural architecture of all sentients in its path (allowing for over-penetration of multiple targets). Prolonged fire/overheating causes momentary blindness and loss of movement speed on the part of the user due to neural interference.
NOTE: Especially effective against Flood forms; no range limitations and can be used through walls.

P-MAC CANNON
Faction: UNSC
Description: A heavy sniper rifle using Gauss cannon technology. Surrounds its bullets with a temporary plasma field which enables one-hit kills against shielded infantry without headshots; shots will also track enemies similarly to Covenant plasma pistol overcharge shots. Slow reload time leaves operator vulnerable at close ranges, though the plasma dissipates over long range.
NOTE: Most practical when used against SPARTANs/Elites/Brutes.

ARMOR HACK GRENADE
Faction: Forerunner
Description: A hand-thrown grenade which temporarily locks the power armor/combat skins of all combatants within its blast radius. Enables rapid elimination or bypassing of concentrated enemies.

Tell me what you guys like/dislike about these ideas. On a side note, also bring back the CE Plasma Rifle (with stun), and the silenced SMG or Pistol, for extra variety.

Mortar
Fires a powerful rocket in a heavy arc trajectory, very useful for firing over obstacles and low cover. It has a very wide blast radius, but the projectile makes a very loud whining noise when shot. Perfect for defending your home base.

Homing-Missile
Like the Rocket Launcher, but with a smaller blast radius and less splash damage. However, this is in exchange for the ability to steer your missiles mid-flight, via holding down the right trigger after firing. The steering may be a bit stiff now and then, but it’s extremely useful for correcting your aim.

Quad-Rocket
Fires mini-rockets in four round bursts, with very little delay in between shots, pretty much allowing you to rapid fire. These rockets are very, very weak compared to other launchers (only one shot kill on direct hit), but on the bright side, the rapid bursts allow you to take down multiple enemies at once if you have good enough accuracy.

Cryoshot
A shotgun-esque weapon that fires ice crystals in a very tight spread. Firing at a target with most of the crystals will freeze him/her for a brief moment (before their armor reacts by heating up, thus thawing the ice). Hitting the target with around half of the crystals will slow him down. The tight spread makes the weapon useful at much longer ranges than the other shotguns, but the projectiles move slow enough that they can be dodged unless you’re good at leading your shots, plus it’s 2sk rather than 1sk. The weapon is perfect for stopping a target from fleeing.

Double Barrel Shotgun
A sawed-off shotgun with two barrels. It fires two slugs that spread out from each other over distance. Has to reload after every shot. Is better at longer ranges than the normal shotgun but requires better precision. Takes four slugs to kill (two shots).

Chaingun
A replacement for the SAW. It has one endless magazine of 300 rounds (no reloads required), and it’s extremely powerful. However, it has a brief spin-up time before firing, and there’s a 20% movement speed reduction while spinning the barrel or firing. It’s also very loud, giving away your position and attracting enemies. It also has pretty high recoil. However, all these cons are nullified because of the weapon’s raw power. The weapon is great for covering fire, support, and area denial, but sucks on the pure offensive.

Sentinel Beam (reworked)
Functions similarly to the Lightning Gun from Quake 3 Arena. The beam will sway around if you turn too much while firing, so the strategy is to strafe in order to keep your aim on the target. It has lower damage per second but extremely high knockback that can push targets away with relative ease.

Vortex Cannon
Calls forth a shadowy orb of death after a .8-second charge up period. It moves relatively slow but when it makes contact with a surface, it erupts in a large shockwave/explosion, killing all players within its vicinity. From the shockwave emerges a blackhole, which sucks players in. Contact with the blackhole results in death. The blackhole then disappears after a while. The weapon comes with very low ammo (1-2 shots).

Interesting ideas! The chaingun sounds OP to me; it might make camping too easy.
The vortex gun sounds like an excellent heavy weapon, as long as it has a slow ROF and reload time.

The Sentinel Beam and Double-barreled Shotgun sound too redundant IMO, not quite original enough:)

My personal favorites on your list are the Quad-Rocket, Homing Missile, and Cryoshot.

> Sounds like a great way to characterise the Incin Cannon, or at least its place in the Promethean sandbox.

I think the Promethean weapons could really have a lot of unique effects.

Constraint Cannon: Generates a constraint field to absorb incoming fire, which is then collected and can be fired back.

I’ve always thought a throwing knife would be sweet, basically you could only get a kill with it from a hit in the back, would work kind of like a stealth weapon I think.

Weapon: The Fishing Net
Faction: Forerunner
Range: Short
Capacity: 4 Shots, Reload after every shot.

When this weapon is used it fires a net made from light. The net sticks to a part of the victim’s body and acts as a power drain. The net will drain the opponent’s shields, then it will explode once the shields are down killing them. It is however horrible outside of short range because the net for some unknown reason splits apart rendering it useless at medium and long ranges.

This weapon takes about 3 seconds to drain the shield, and a little less than 5 to get the kill. This weapon is useless against vehicles, more specifically vehicles like the Scorpion and Wraith where the driver is concealed.

What do you guys think?

There should be a UNSC melee weapon. I’m thinking a single-edge sword with a titanium-tungsten ceramic edge heated to white hot by a mechanism that goes the length of the back of the blade, like Optimus Prime’s heat blade in the Transformers movies. Where the Covenant energy sword has a longer lunge this blade would be swung in sweeping movements to hit people to the side as well as in front of the player. Has twice the ammo of the energy sword, can be swung faster, but takes two hits to kill since it has no electromagnetic properties to break shields instantly, unless you strike someone in the back, then it’s instant kill. It should either look like a wide Ninjato or a futuristic Machete.

And how about a Ballistic Knife that instantly kills from a short distance away, but the blade is narrow and easy to miss a moving target.

Tornado Gun!!! No? Anyone? No one?
