Okay guys here is my problem. I am currently at university and because of complications my xbox can’t be constantly connected to the internet so it has been turned off without a connection for about a week now. Today, after i learned the day one patch came out I went to download it, to my surprise it seems to already have downloaded (maybe). When I go into manage game for halo 5, it says the size of the file is 54.84gb. Great, that’s the size it’s suppose to be after the patch. My problem, is I have no clue, how my file sized has increased due to the fact my xbox has been disconnected for over a week. Basically my question is this, Is there a way for me to actually tell if I have the patch downloaded or not? Any advice or help would be appreciated
Go to “Settings”, “Network”, “Bandwidth Usage” and look around for it.
How was your Xbox disconnected? Just pressing the power button on your Xbox doesn’t turn it off if you have the instant-on options selected in the settings.

He’s at a university. A lot of them have ridiculously slow or downright unreliable internet connections.

Yep, I get that, but what does that have to do with my question? If instant-on is on and he has the option to download in the background, it’ll do just that regardless if the university connection is slow or not. The update wasn’t released until yesterday and his Xbox reports the new file size which was not previously known before. It downloaded at some point.
By the sound of it it has. If you’re on instant on mode as soon as you plugged in it will have set to.

My university wifi is protected under WPA2-E. This means you have to sign in with username and password to connect. so I can only connect xbox by bridging a connection from my laptop. So without it connected to my laptop with an ethernet cord, it won’t be connected to xbox live. What I’m thinking might of happen is that although my xbox can’t connect to the wifi while it’s is on (unless I’m using the solution a mentioned above) maybe it somehow is able to connect and download through the wifi while it’s turned off because for some reason it being turned off it is able to by-pass the having to sign in using my internet. I’m trying to test it out right now.
