Unique actions

Here is something I think would be great for halo 5; unique actions.

So unique actions are in-game actions your spartan can only perform if you have that particular one selected in your loadout. They could be a large variety of things such as…

Repair- fix damaged vehicals/prehaps other things

Construct- build fortifications and obstacles

Mark- lets you mark enemies for your team to see momentarily.

Adjustable zoom- pretty self explanatory.

Set trap- set one trap on the map that explodes when any enemy comes near.

Tactical skill set- unlocks certain actions such as prone and wall hug.

Martial arts training- lets you deliver more lethal melee strikes.

Well there’s a few hypothetical examples. Yes, unique actions, what do you think? I think it would be great.

I always did love marking out enemies and repairing my Helicopter after blowing a tank to smithereens in Battlefield 4! I think this would be a great addition to the game!

So basically just a second set of Armor Abilities? We’d have two actions we can perform on spawning - the original AA’s and then these.

Something like this would be interesting, as we’ve never had any means of repairing vehicles, but i think that it should be with some on-map building, or a weapon, rather than a loadout addition.

This is Halo, not Team Fortress 2, we don’t need specialized Bunker-building Spartans in the game.

If something were to be built on the map, they would be part of the map, similar to Dominion, where any player can help build up the base. If anything were to be deployable, it should be a pickup similar to Halo 3’s Equipment IMO.

This is too similar to Battlefield’s Spotting ability, and either way, why give it specifically to one person, if at all?

The guns only zoom so far for a reason, we don’t want Super snipers on big maps

This can be accomplished with the sticky Detonator, or some other Mine-type of weapon, we don’t need a specialization for it.

Prone and Wall Hugging are not Halo things, keep them out Please

In what way is this balanced?

and sidenote: What more martial Arts training can a Spartan Receive? They can take down Hunters with their fists, i don’t think you can get better than that.

Sounds like perks, or armor abilities, or just selecting your weapon in load-outs, which are all unique actions and things you would have been handed if you chose to select them in the menu.

I am against all kinds of load-outs, and this is definitely not an idea I wold compromise on.

I also think that every vehicle should be able to repair themselves just like in Halo 1-3.

Prone is also extremely useless in what I consider Halo. It might be more viable in the 343’s next game, I hope not though.

But I don’t want to play a class-based shooter.

No not at all, armor abilities are pieces of hardware that give you a technique, perks are passive modifiers. Unique actions are specific tasks that only your spartan can do, a job he is trained for so to speak.

But Mechanically the half works like AAs and the other Half works like perks.

Also why would any Spartan need a Training in Setting up a land mine and Adjusting their zoom?

Ok so maybe some of them are a bit of a stretch but work with me here it’s hard thinking up good examples.

Maybe that speaks volumes about the quality of the overall concept?
