i see teams of noobs (sergeants to majors) fighting against tanners (generals to inheritors) fighting each other fighting all the time and i wonder how does halo put teams together? i think it is very poor and deserves to be changed so if there were 4 sergeants and 4 novas there would be 2 novas in each team so each team has an equal chance to win
The system is very loose when it comes to skill matching, so lopsided matches occur all of the time.
However, skill matching has nothing to do with whether you’re a General or a Private, because it’s based on how well you do in the game which the current, credit-based ranking system doesn’t count for. Therefore, in an ideal match, a Sergeant that’s determined to be good at the game could match an Inheritor that’s determined to be good at the game, if the system was stricter in the skill-matching aspect of matchmaking.
I’ve seen inheritors with 0.5 K/D and recruits with 2.0 K/D. With Reach’s ranking system that rewards PLAYING rather than WINNING, anyone with the time can reach inheritor.
I don’t think rank has really much to do it… its only a reflection of experience and dedication rather than skill and so i don’t mind so much…
I have witnessed Inheritors with about 7 kills and Sergeants with 22…
If anything it should be based on the K/D to which i’ll admit i was terrible at the game when i first got and a terrible K/D… now that i am alot better i am trying to close the gap but its still about 55,000 deaths to 49, 000 kills
rank means nothing, if anything inheritors and the higher ranks are easy wins for me. It’s not like Halo 3 where ranks had some correlation to skill. Now you never know what you get unless you check a player’s kills and deaths before a game.
What has rank got to due with anything? I rape inheritors and recruits alike on a regular bases.
I’ve been destroyed, murdered and t-bagged to hell by people as low as Warrant Officer.
No rank means nothing. When I was a warrant officer I got paired with a team of sgts and captains against a team of people above LT Colonel.
At the end of the match our entire team was positive, not one on their team was.
Now that being said, when I was LT colnel Me and my brother got in a team snipers match with some inheritors, a feild marshall and a warrant officer. Our teammates quit out before the match started.
Me and my brother won the match with both of us at perfections
To be blunt, the OP clearly has no understanding of how the Reach “ranking” system works. The poor grammar is just the cherry on top. Reach has no true ranking system, and the Arena playlist is only a heavily flawed iteration. Halo 2 and Halo 3 are examples of what an actual ranking system should be. A ranking system based upon individual skill creates scenarios where the game itself is relatively balanced. If the game is balanced, it will be much more attractive than if it is not. From what I’ve seen and read, Halo 4 will be a hybrid of the Reach system based upon credits, w/ a separate system based upon individual skill.
A Team should always try and match another Team if the system was perfect
It makes a better game for everyone / playing people your skill is better then getting smashed into the ground or playing vs. kids that have never played.
Although I really only see one side of the story as I play with a full team/party it what ever playlists fits the # of people best
ie : 4 super slayer - 5 team objective - 6 squad DLC and so on
Rank can, and can not have something to do with your skill. Someone who played against other people in alot of game modes to rank up might be skillful, but people who forge and such might not be as good as others who have had more online experience. This can still not be true though depending on the conditions of one’s rank up.
Rank is too often mistaken with skill in this game. The way I quickly check my odds before a game is going through people’s commendations. Often, there’s nothing significant, but sometimes I’ll find the Nova that doesn’t have a single Onyx matchmaking commendation; it’s all firefight and campaign. It really isn’t fair that most new people will get scared of high ranks, when the people behind those profiles have no skill whatsoever.
