I feel like a lot of people feel the same way about vehicles. I Can’t tell how damaged a vehicle is, whether I’m in the vehicle or I’m shooting an enemy vehicle. The Warthog seems relatively fine and BOOM! It blows up. The damage to specific areas is cool like the wheels or the hood getting damaged, but overall the vehicles don’t really indicate that they’ve received major damage.
Where’s the sparks and smoke and fire that Halo vehicles normally have!? The effects in this game like fire and explosions are very underwhelming.
Maybe the animations should be more dramatic in terms of vehicle damage? Hogs can survive 2 rockets for the hood to be showing very little fire/sparks in term of damage but increasing the flame animation could be better?
Yeah thats kind of my point is that the vehicle doesn’t show the player how damaged it is visually. A lot of Smoke and fire would definitely help that.

Or how in Reach and Halo 3 parts of the Hog started coming off over time.
Reach had the best Warthog in terms of gameplay and mechanics IMO.
It’s weird cause I remember 343 talking about how intricate the new vehicle mechanics were when taking damage and to be fair I can see some of that. However, even with tires and bumpers popping off it still feels off when it comes to the overall destruction of the vehicle. An increase of plasma sparks and bursts of flame shooting out of the vehicle during its doomed state could help greatly.
Yeah, the presence of fire is the biggest context clue I look for when trying to find a good vehicle. It was weird to see it so scarcely.
