I realized after watching the Campaign reveal that the reason it was so underwhelming (besides the very linear, COD reminiscent format and lackluster action) was because of the music. I loved the Halo 4 soundtrack (my opinion) and it was among the first things that stood out to me in the trailers. Whereas, in all of the H5 trailers it was just there. I really hope they don’t go the generic action route to appeal to a “wider player base”.
On a separate note, is anyone else trembling, thinking about what next feature they’re gonna remove from the Halo instead of getting hyped for H5? It certainly looks like we’re getting our beloved 1080p and 60fps, but at what cost? That’s next gen tech for you, ladies and gentlemen. Tremendous upgrade.
The reason it probably felt underwhelming was because the demo looked like an entire mission crammed into a 5 minute showcase. The reason for this is obvious. Microsoft had a lot of things to get through this e3. And unfortunately they cannot spend all their conference time in Halo.

Yeah, I realize that, I’m reserving final judgement. Just that it feels a bit unsettling, that’s all.

Yeah right at the end of the vidoc you’ve got the classic theme, and just before that there’s a new version of the piece of music from the opening of halo 2, where Thel is on trial. So that’s 3 bits of classic halo music we got coming back for halo 5 (a new version of the choir was heard in the first game informer video)

Alright, I watched Ready Up Live’s video on the campaign and it sounded great, I think the e3 demo seriously misrepresented the real deal. I get most of my news from Halo Follower, where they generally -Yoink- up information, doesn’t cite sources, and are all around terrible. RUL has that synthetic tone to it (the kind you may hear from IGN, Gamestop, etc.), but at least they seem more opinionated and integral.
I hope we get Marty for the next Halo. Nothing beats the original tracks and especially after ODST’s beautiful score, I am sure that Marty could have delivered 343’s “darker” Halo approach.
Well. I was honestly impressed by what I saw in the cinematics and from what I heard of the voice acting. As far as the gameplay goes, I have no reason to believe, judging from the amount of gameplay shown, that there is anything to worry about. These e3 demos always have more enemies and are much more challenging in the actual game. Especially on legendary. Also, Halo has always been somewhat linear, but you can’t really judge linearity from a brief demo.
