Some people haven’t noticed the difference. Some don’t care. The majority of us, however, make a huge deal out of it. Our Undersuit on every Spartan from Halo: CE to Halo Reach has been black. Since 343 took over, it has partially changed to the primary armor color. Look at this. That is the difference. When the Undersuit is the same color as the armor it starts to blend and make the armor itself less significant. It’s shape doesn’t stand out. From a halfway across the map a player just sees a color. How can a Spartan be your own if you aren’t distinct and recognizable? Art design has been horribly inconsistent since 343. Halo Reach updated the Mark V to newer graphics but Halo 4 changed everything and Halo 5 looks like a cartoon. Please fix this eye burning nonsense.
I just had an idea. What about an Undersuit color selection? Then some could have purple undersuits and seeker helmets (yes I am making fun of seeker) and others could have Mark VI and black Undersuit.
EDIT: I love how MCC integrated this into the Halo 3 update. I still use the classic tech suit but now people have a choice. They should do this for Halo 4 too.
I think that 343 should allow us to choose between the classic style (black) and the standard style (suit influenced by the primary color as it is right now in the game).
Glad you see how much an impact having a black undersuits makes OP. We’ve been telling 343 but like mp elites we’ve only received silence. Though we do know the undersuits at least has been brought up behind 343’s doors. If this means something or if they passed it off as a joke we dont know.
I really wished they brought back black under suits…
Ske7ch has basically confirmed that black undersuits are coming back in the future. I wouldn’t expect them in Halo 5, but they’ll likely be a staple moving forward considering the uproar.

I’m curious as to why they can’t be added to Halo 5.
Can’t they simply “switch off” whatever is matching the undersuit colour to your primary colour?
I honestly feel like that should give us the option to change it from Black Undersuit to Colored Undersuit. Because some people like the Colored Undersuits, and we like the blackedout undersuit. Therefore, to appease everyone, there should be an option for those two.
Will the new undersuit colours become available to add brighter colours such as solid blue, solid cyan, solid green, solid yellow, solid orange, etc for the next update?
I had no idea this is what people meant when they talked about black undersuits, too bad it won’t come in halo 5, and if it did 343 would somehow -Yoink- that up too. This used to not mean anything to me, but after looking at the comparison image now I understand what the uproar is about, and I want classic style.

People already made the comparisons as well, majority of Halo 5’s armor look awful with black undersuit’s. Which is why they did the reflective primary, to look a little bit better. Yet, everyone’s mad.

The armor looks revealing with OR without the colored Undersuit, the colored undies just mix all the armor in a wash of power rangers colors and make it hard to discern the plating. Oh and I’ve looked at the comparisons. Even Halo 5’s armor looks better with black. Not my fault 343 removed most external codpieces, but even just having solid black gloves instead of the Kevlar-looking-puzzle-board of color for hands we have now would make the black Undersuit toggle worth it on any armor imo.
And if they HAD to change the way undersuits have been since CE to cover up ‘awful’ armor design, doesn’t that’s present a problem in the armor?
I am also a firm believer in wearing a codpiece (groin protection) so adding that to the new 343 armored using the ones they already have used (Mark VI Gen 1, Mark IV gen 1, Reach remakes, Mark V Alpha) would solve the "pantsless Spartan look and make armor more accepting of the solid black undersuits.
I would gladly accept an option for udnersuit/techsuit customization. Black undersuits/techsuits are better for two reasons, IMO:
- It accents the armor pieces very well, meaning that the armor pieces have a little more “pop” so that they are more easily identifiable and noticeable. - It makes sense from a Lore and realistic standpoint, meaning that it makes more sense to have it black rather than a brighter color so that it’s easier for camouflage and hiding in shadowy areas (which is what military personnel often do).

Just my opinion… I actually prefer the colored undersuits, only on the stomach area, I like the black hand areas.
I always wear black armor so I’ve never noticed a problem but I don’t see why 343 can’t just add the option to change it

This difference in opinion is why it would be a good idea to choose whether we want our undersuits to be just black or colored. Then everyone wins.
