Under what context is this whole Barbie Spartan thing?

Games have certain tones. Gears of war is (well was, i haven’t really played since 3) a serious game and having a gun that shoots bubbles and tickles people to death doesn’t fit. Same with cat ears etc. in Halo maybe to a bit less of an extent but still the same.

Not everything belongs in every game. No game can nor should be designed to appeal to everyone because thats impossible. Games should be designed for a certain purpose and sadly Halo has been falling away from that really since Reach. Infinite going back to, for the most part, the classic Halo art style was great but they should not have marketed it as such if they weren’t going to reapect it again and just push whatever in there they wanted.

Dude it was a joke. The entirety of my previous post was sarcastic mockery of the previous poster’s labeling of this topic as sexist. I labeled it with the buzzwords that I did, because making the claim even more outrageously ridiculous and nonsensical highlights how absurd the original quote was.

I’m not sure what that point is getting at. If you can see my post history you’d be able to see I was one of those REEEEing about the lack of choice regarding the body types in Infinite since everyone is locked in as male at the time of this post. Numerous of the previous games gave us the option, so calling that anti-Halo is just blatantly incorrect.

People will be upset no matter what term you use to describe their obsession to dress up in a Halo game that is hardily playable.

Barbies are used to play dress up. People who obsess over dress up more than game-play are seemingly more interested in a spartan barbie sim instead of a FPS. It’s not that deep.

Barbie spartan is a good term that goes straight to the point.

OP

They’re on the holo deck in multiplayer. They can wear whatever they want as it’s not actually a real battle.

Halo is a Space Opera. It’s closer to 40k than it is to the Expanse. Copperhead armour looks the way it does because they wanted their space marines to have sleek -Yoink!- sci fi armour. This is not the Expanse or even Starship Troopers and it never was. So it has to get pretty wild before I think something is too much.

It does not take a lot resources to churn out a handful of shoulder pads for one or two armour cores which took 6 months to develop. A lot of which is historic stuff that only needs tweaking. Especially because this is a low graphics game and it should be easy to churn these out.

343 has objectively not put out much content. The store is barren. They are dragging out their cosmetics over 6 months when by their own admission that is not normal or desirable. A company does not willingly half its income.

Something has gone incredibly wrong here. The games issues are not because they sent everybody to make cosmetics, because they haven’t made any. The answer is the problems are proving a lot tougher than 343 realised and everything has been pulled back. Either they don’t have the staff, there’s massive internal restructuring going on, or the game is a mess and every little change or addition breaks the game. Quite possibly all of these issues.

Of course they can. Nothing about this is stopping people from wearing anything.

Like holographic bunny ears and glowing flames perhaps?

343 themselves have already categorised all of the more wacky or non-canon content into two manufacturers, Fotus & 343 Industries.

Stuff like promotional HCS coatings or gamepass coatings are labelled as manufactured by 343. So we know. Things like holographic floating Halo rings above our heads or armour coatings that make you look like a meringue are manufactured by Fotus. A reference to the unicorn helmet.

So, 343 themselves already know what is what. So do most. It’s obvious even without this direct distinction by 343. Obviously it’s not certified fact that those two manufacturing labels mean that.

But we can deduce as much from the evidence at hand. All 343 needs to be do is enable a toggle that hides all 343 Industries & Fotus manufactured cosmetics alongside the fracture cores.

That way both sides get what they want.

Between just the 3 canon cores, there are roughly around 40 sets of shoulders and 40 helmets. Its just a shame more of them aren’t earnable.

As far as cosmetic content goes, cross-core (which is planned for the canon cores) will solve that issue for most people I think.

On this we both agree. But this week we are supposedly getting a big reveal of whats coming over the next several months as 343s own Ske7ch has said they are ‘coming out of this cocoon’

It’s make or break for 343.

I dont understand why anyone would be against there being a toggle between canon and non canon cosmetics. How is player choice a bad thing.

People who want lore friendly cosmetics only will be happy.
People who want cat ears and santa hats and samari/trench warfare armour will be happy.

Right now, only one group is happy.

And we have the option in mcc.

How is a toggle option a bad thing?

It’s not a bad thing. It’s just makes it sound like this community is more “fashion” centered than quality centered. “Yeah this game is empty of features and content, but if we get a toggle for armor it’s all good?”

Like difficulty sliders in dark souls? This toggle isn’t on that level, but I bring it up because there are times when player choice is a very bad thing.

That one is not a cannon toggle. It’s a toggle between original armor and new armor added with MCC. All the non-cannon silly crap that shipped with with the original games is still visible to everyone with the toggle on.

Having it is neither a good thing or a bad thing. It simply extra. And hell, if this game was complete I would probably be a lot more in favor of it.

Things that make people happy that have no detriment, a precedent for them and evidence to support them are good things.

It not being high priority is true so therefore it’s not the content that would do or be the most good. But, it’s still good.

I’d definitely agree it’s a low priority for sure. I doubt anyone is asking for a toggle over a finished game with firefight, forge, working customs, non battlepass progression, split screen coop on console AND steam PC, mission replay, the halo 3 ranking system 1-50, playable elites, the ability to veto, custom games browser, the ability to lobby up, increased sensitivity options and tweaked aiming mechanics, playable elites, invasion, warzone, infection, assault…

But it would be nice.

As for the MCC toggle being for classic armour vs new armour, excluding the transformeresque halo 4 and 5 pieces, most classics (excluding hyabusa, katana, flaming head, and reach armour/death effects) are canon, and most of the new additions (at least to halo 3 and reach) have been nasty h4 and 5 sets and non canon funny/historical pieces.

I can think of Orion and SPI that have made their way in recently as two exceptions, but the rest are definitely not lore friendly/cannon.

I dont think dark souls difficulty and halo cosmetics are even comparable conceptually, not just being on different levels.

If the arguement is resources need to be spent elsewhere for now, 100% I am on board. But I cant understand why someone who wants to use samari armour, cat ears, or trench warfare gas masks would be upset rhat players that want a more conventional, lore friendly experience have the option to also be satisfied at the same time. There is no loss there to anyone, except maybe 343 if they run out od ideas for canonical sets in the store.

Sort the game out and then concentrate on cosmetics. Noone gives a damn about cat ears if you can’t play the game. They should fix all the issues first before adding in all these extra little things.

Edit: Also Spartans shouldn’t wear cat ears.

Edit 2: In all fairness I don’t care whether people want to buy cat ears, it’s stupid yes but that’s my opinion. It has no effect on my life. I’m here to play the game and if you’re on my team and wanna wear cat ears then crack on aslong as you play well. If you’re a troll then you should be banned.

Edit3: cant wait for the 343 updates!

Cosmetics really ruined post launch dlc and support…
All i read is “where is my pointless kneepad xy” when people should ask for proper and meaningful content like Maps and Modes or a Campaign expansion

I know.

I think the major loss would be to 343i because the people who paid for the armor are strongly against it and have said that they would feel ripped off and not use the shop if there was a toggle. Personally, i feel like if they did not feel ripped of paying for those high prices for customizations, than they can take a toggle to the chin too.

A very tiny minority have acted like this. Also unreasonably so.

That’s called progress. We advanced tactically. Even in the cannon, the UNSC and ONI uniforms are not made to stick out.

Would stealth be negated heavily? I don’t remember seeing the sniper across the map on my radar. Plus moving slowly makes those radars ineffective. Also, without a visual confirmation, the blimp on the radar could easily just be wildlife. It makes zero sense to stand out this much in pink and cyan outside of “it’s fiction, don’t think too hard about it.” Not to mention that a good part of Halo 3 ODST was the Rookie sneaking around at night avoiding the covis.

Hey guys make sure to actually read the question and rhetorical questions as well so you don’t make the same mistakes.

You clearly didn’t read my posts in here as I have been fighting for people to back off of those who wear what they desire

Unless you provide evidence to support this claim, this is nothing more then speculation at best. Not everyone that plays the game come to these boards, or forums in general. This is nothing more then an assumption.
