"Under The Dark" Mission really needs some fixes.

Ok, I’m no rocket scientist here, but I’m pretty sure that the AI isn’t supposed to spam the glassing beam constantly to kill troops. In a mission where the only good counter is aircraft (Which is non-existent in this mission) and heavy vehicles (also non-existent) The AI, instead of trying to actually use troops to kill your enemies, just runs towards you, spams his abilities, falls back to their base, rinse and repeat. Obviously there’s no power disrupter like there was in halo wars 1, and with the glassing beam being completely broken in terms of damage for the AI, there’s nothing you can do. The game is constantly in a stalemate because the enemy rarely ever decides to attack you with troops, and instead just spams abilities. End result? The mission could potentially go on for hours on end, with no side being a clear victor.

Clearly something is broken in the AI’s scripting/mechanics here, because there’s no way in hell that the AI was purposely scripted to only use hit and run tactics with it’s leader powers. The UNSC leaders don’t mention it, there’s no warning for it, yet it still happens.

(This is for the legendary AI, by the way. For the “hardest difficulty” level, this doesn’t really show much other than lazy programming, sadly. Hopefully it gets fixed, or if not, at least some tips from the community on how to deal with this constant glassing beam spam would be nice.)

Edit: After investigating this myself, it indeed appears to be a bug with the AI’s leader powers (or maybe a huge oversight)

The problem? AIs HAVE NO COOLDOWN ON LEADER POWERS.

Want proof? Send in an army of 10 infantry, and then send in another shortly after. Guess what ability is used both times? You guessed it. Glassing beam. Tested this 3 times, all with the same results. A simple fix would be to actually apply the cooldown to AIs.
