undeniable proof that trueskill is beyond broken in reach

check how many perfections you have in halo 3. now look at how many perfections you have in halo reach.

check your ranked kdr in halo 3. now check your competitive kdr in halo reach. most people ive checked also have a lower kdr in HALO 3 SOCIAL than reach competitive. WHAT A JOKE! (if you only play mlg this might not apply to you. mlg falls under reach competitive)

seriously matchmaking is one of the reasons why halo reach sucks. i cant go into a game by myself and find a fair, competitive match. its either

  1. play a bunch of noobs and destroy them all
  2. play decent but not great players but get garbage teammates who make me lose
  3. actually get a good game which happens only .03% of the time

please bring back ranks in halo 4.
(also please dont use arena if you are trying to refute my argument. thats a whole other thread im not getting into because it should be obvious how much of a failure that playlist is)

We know.

Also, it’s far easier to be good in Reach than H3.

You have a higher K/D in Halo 3 than you do in Reach, what happened?

You are not taking into account the fact that a lot of people got their xboxs because of halo 3. I know for a fact my k/d in halo 3 is lower due to it being a learning period for me.

> please bring back ranks in halo 4.

Ranks won’t do anything.

If 343 right now, in this very instant flipped on the switch so that everyone could see their TrueSkill rank, just like in H3 Ranked. Nothing would change. You’ld still be complaining about the exact same things.

Why?

Because what you want are evenly matched games. Which has nothing to do with visible ranks.

> (also please dont use arena if you are trying to refute my argument. thats a whole other thread im not getting into because it should be obvious how much of a failure that playlist is)

Arena.

Come at me bro.

Also: What undeniable proof? Even the people that actually showed “undeniable” proof are high ranked players pointing out horribly lopsided games in playlists with minimal populations. The only people who can show undenyable proof that TrueSkill is broken or not are the ones in charge of the game: 343.

halo 3 ranked brought out more evenly matched games which has everything to do with visible ranks. only casual players like you dont mind the current system we have now. arena is a noobed up version of ranks because there is only 1 playlist with noob type settings. no mlg ranked. no snipers ranked. no obective ranked. just arena.

lmao only 343 is the one to tell if trueskill is broken LMFAO. i guess they are the only one to tell if a map is broken, armor lock, etc. right? get real.

its really sad that i have to do this but i guess some players still dont believe lop sided games happen ALL THE TIME.
other account playing team slayer i had over 300 games played in there which was the second highest on my account. this was also the second most popular playlist 1st being zombies. also i should point out that 90% of those games are me searching by myself. so even after seeing this and seeing how other people have 100 more perfections in this game than in reach and seeing how people have higher reach competitive kdr than halo 3 social, you still think only 343 is the one to tell if trueskill is broken. lol.

I believe Cosssta’s Squad Slayer record is proof enough of the broken player matching mechanics. Whether it is due to improperly implemented trueskill, low population or some other factor is yet to be determined.

> I believe Cosssta’s Squad Slayer record is proof enough of the broken player matching mechanics. Whether it is due to improperly implemented trueskill, low population or some other factor is yet to be determined.

i don’t think anyone who runs squad slayer is better then cosssta and his team, that might be why …

then again, i search solo squad slayer quite abit and hover around 1.7 - 2.0 k/d a game, i either get matched with the idiots or against them, either way i generally do well, i guess the overall reach population is just bad.

It’s possible there could be algorithm issues as well. A low enough population has a bad effect on the DlC matchmaking algorithm, so perhaps the hidden trueskill system has a similar issue. I’m no coder, nor do i have access to Reach like that, so who knows.

Most games are hardly lopsided in my opinion. That usually happens when you get a party. Someone tried to raise the point that Spartans always win in Invasion slayer and just yesterday i played a game as elites and we won.

I have a feeling it ranks up tiers of players of similar skill level. I’ve always noticed there is atleast 1 soldier who isn’t the sturdiest helmet.

Trueskill in Reach works somewhat similar to the old school team making in the backyard.

-1 Good player for red… 1 good player for blue

-hmm… party of 2 decent players on red… and 1 decent player for blue.

-1 average player for red and since blue is down by 2, everybody else on blue.

>turn on Reach
>play 5 games
>win all of them except for one (bad teammates are bad)
>play sixth game in Team Slayer
>get an invincible medal + perfection with a total of 32 kills (game)
>facepalm
>turn off Reach

The funniest part is that I play with randoms.

I do so much better in Reach because I can run to an area faster than I could in 3… Considering there was no sprint back then and everyone and their Grandma could snipe you with a BR if you traversed into the open.

> I do so much better in Reach because I can run to an area faster than I could in 3… Considering there was no sprint back then and everyone and their Grandma could snipe you with a BR if you traversed into the open.

People do better at Reach because there are crutches to help you make up for your mistakes. In CE, if you made a mistake, then you got slaughtered with the Pistol. In Halo 2 and 3, if you made a mistake, then you most ikely got killed with the BR. Although in Halo 3, the spread gave you some breathing room, like bloom does in reach. In Reach, if you make a mistake, you can evade, sprint or jetpack out of the way and into safety. You can become invincible for a while in armor lock. You can become invisible for 3/4 of a minute with active camo whenever you friggin want!! You can put down a drop shield and heal yourself inside it!! All crutches that help alleviate your mistakes. Bloom also helps you make the mistake of running out into the open, but forcing the opponent to shoot slowly in order to kill you, giving you plenty of time to cross the field or room or get behind a rock/etc.

According to everyone against Reach, they hate progression, love taking steps backwards and slowing down.

The De-evolution of Halo.

my social k/d in Halo 3 is surprisingly higher than my reach k/d by about a .4 difference. My ranked k/d in Halo 3 is about .1 lower than my reach k/d. I do play alone more in reach so I guess that equates out but yeah I’m still pulling 2.0 k/ds across both of the halos and yeah … Reach is easy, even when you play alone 100% of the time. My last seven consecutive Reach matches I have a grand total of a +83 k/d lol

> According to everyone against Reach, they hate progression, love taking steps backwards and slowing down.

Change, when made correctly, for the better all while keeping core Halo fundamentals, is fine.

Change for the sake of change, for the worst and taking a dump on halo fundamentals, is stupid.

i dont think population is that big of a deal. i played team slayer on my other account and got put into games where kids were no where near my level and this happened all the time. the way it works in reach is that it connects you to a game as fast as possible whether there are a lot of people(5000) or a little(500).

halo 3 ranked would never do this. it has to wait for evenly matched parties. 40s had to play 40s but in reach a 40 type player would match up against 20s because its the quickest match found.
