Seriously? I just made a post about the horrible balancing issues with MCC but now it’s getting worse and worse with Halo 5 ever since they added Mythic Shotty Snipers. Now, some games I’ll destroy people, others, I’ll be the one getting destroyed. Why am I getting paired with what appear to be MLG Lords? I’m rank 49 and I’ve been getting paired against people 100+. Again, much like MCC, my team is full of rank 40s, the people I SHOULD be with. Sometimes I even get rank 9s on my team who aren’t the most competent. Just played a match of KOTH on Block Pit where may team didn’t even ATTEMPT to get to the hill cause the other team was absoluty destroying us. Played a game of Shotty Snipes, teammates absolutely got destroyed. It’s these types of not-even-close games that are decided in the first minute of the game that make me quit cause that’s not fun, that’s not even challenging, it’s just boring and repetitive. I have 3 friends ranging from rank 24 to 41 that have this same EXACT issue. It’s really destroying my experience with this game and I’m not happy about it. Perhaps it’s the time of day, or maybe it’s Halo 5s incredibly low population, I’ll probably never know, but 343 if you can, fix this, please.
Your SR rank means nothing. Its just a number that reflects how much halo you’ve played really. Your playing unranked game types so it’s not trying to pair you with like skilled opponents and the fact that the population is so low adds to it. It’s going to find players searching in the same game type as you and bam you’ve got a match.

Sounds like a normal social game to me. Also, the game doesn’t match people by their SR rank (49,100+), but it does so by their MMR rank which is hidden.

So that’s how social is? Haven’t had too much trouble with it and usually had fair matches until now but okay, guess I’ll just avoid it.
I do find it funny how their rank usually reflects how good they are, and how accurate it is usually in my case.
But why is our MMR rank hidden? What is MMR based on? Sorry for all the questions.
From what I understand about MMR is…if you go straight savage one game slaying everyone in sight your MMR will spike or if you get wrecked in a game it plummets. So basically you play good it goes up, play bad it goes down. Then the matchmaker will put you in a game with people who have the same MMR. The only problem is you don’t know what your MMR is.

Sounds simple, and I truly do believe that the low population is screwing that system up and is doing most of the damage. But I don’t understand why we can’t see the MMR rank. Thanks for putting up with me and my limited knowledge of this system.

Social is a mixed bag of skill so you can get games that are close or games like you described.
It’s hidden because social isn’t supposed to be about playing for a rank and making it visible will defeat that purpose. It’s not displayed in the ranked playlists either because it’s not as stable as your visible CSR rank (diamond, bronze etc), but that’s for another topic.
MMR is based on a formula that was created to determine your skill level which in turn was implemented into this game’s Trueskill 2 system. There’s a pretty big technical paper about it linked in one of the Matchmaking Feedback threads which you can search for it here if you really wanted to know about it. I think it was sometime in February or March, but I know it was during this year which should help narrow your search. This thread will give you a basic definition of MMR and CSR. If you want to about how they actually work in ranked, then you should read through the latest MM Feedback threads.

Im sure if you play constantly halo 5 i really think you became a over power
In the latest Matchmaking feedback thread Dr. Menke made a post a few hours ago about updates to team balancing, this should be better now
It probably stems from the rather low population sticking with the game. try switching your matchmaking preferences to focused. it will take much longer to find a game, but everyone will be more or less near your skill level. however you may still find premades that work together better than randoms and pubstomp.
Yea I played my first arena game in a long -Yoink- time the other day in btb, got wiped like 200 to 10 or something. The next match was better though.

That’s just how Strongholds tends to go. Also, the bigger the enemy team, the more likely it is that you’re up against a fireteam that can communicate with each other and play effectively, as opposed to solo queueing where it always feels like your teammates have no clue what they’re doing

If that’s true, this rlly is unbalanced. Seems like they should’ve balanced it already instead of “just the way she goes” and “hard to matchmake against teamed up Fireteams”.
Sometimes to my chagrin, I get the impression that I’m the one player who can pull off a miracle against a skilled team while my teammates struggle to even stay alive. Very annoying, especially if I have to bail them out in a JIP match.
But most of the time, I just have to deal with it and hope for the best.

This 100%
Play ranked and you will get similar skilled players.

What is MMR rank?

Your MMR is your matchmaking rating, a hidden value of your skill which determines who you get matched with in multiplayer.

See Luke’s other post further up, he provided links to some topics that explain this
Like it or not, that’s how you improve your skill. some things you will not get better at, find what works and stick to it. and train on the ones you don’t. you don’t fail at halo you just get defeated. like you said you king on some and not on others. I remember a time you didn’t have numbers, it was ranks. go back to ranks. ranks are respect, if you did bad you got demoted. when you did good promoted. all this number stuff its just auditing.
I am really not liking the new way you get matched at all. I have read threads with people trying to explain it and it just makes no sense. Shouldn’t unranked players get matched with unranked? Not platinum or diamonds? I see this all the time. The one constant I see is people who really have no where near the skill as the rest of your team placed with you. It’s like you are constantly put with one member that has to be carried. With that being said it is definitely causing an uptick in people quitting. Because they are completely over matched and are frustrated. This is the way I see it. I feel it was poor implementation and should be fixed. My skill no longer means nothing if I am constantly matched like this.
