This thread will is probably redundant but I just have to post this in hopes the devs see this.
This is flat out unacceptable. This is your flagship game and you screw it up this badly? The community dealt with the failure of halo 4 and we finally have a chance to play a decent halo game again and you manage to screw this up? Did you not test this? This is not because of the load on the servers. This is because they didn’t test the dedicated servers. It’s a disgrace that we are beta testing this game. It’s also worse that matchmaking isn’t the only thing that’s broken. Getting stuck on loading screens, the party dissolving when you back out, sounds just glitching out. This game was released in a piss poor state and they need to be held accountable. I understand they were trying to do a fan service by including all the games, but instead of biting off more than your team can handle, why not just focus on Halo 2. That’s why we bought this game, Halo 2. 343 just isn’t ready to develop an AAA title. I truly hate to say that but looking at Halo 4 and now this? I can’t imagine what Halo 5 is going to be like.
I’m disgusted. I love Halo, we all do. We all fell in love with the game years ago and time and time again these releases are just a let down. I’m not trying to speak for everyone but I’m pretty damn sure I am for a big majority.
This was supposed to bring this franchise back. Bring more eyeballs to the product and hopefully get the next generation into it. Instead it sucked the momentum out of the chances of that.
I know I know it’s only been 2 days. I understand that. They have been working around the clock and there hasn’t been one ounce of promising improvement. Instead of lying to us and feeding us nonsense about the server side updates how about just admitted you have no idea how to handle this. Admit that you didn’t put one ounce of testing into the dedicated servers. Admit you released a half–Yoinked!- product. This many bugs in a release is a disgrace. I bought my console for this game and I’m so let down.
This isn’t going to be fixed for a long time. When they do fix the MM, they just have many more bugs to iron out. You all just paid 60 bucks to alpha test this product. It’s a slap in the face to the dedicated community that keeps this franchise alive. Maybe it’s just a sign it needs to die out and we need to move on. I hope everyone of you responsible for the quality assurance and testing at 343 are held accountable. I think it’s time to hit the books guys.
I like how them apologizing and saying we deserve better isn’t enough -.-
I don’t mean to start a fan war, but being that Halo 4 was their first legitimate launch (aka flagship game in the Halo series) how was it a failure? It was definitely a slight departure from the norm, but what else would one expect when a game switches hands?
I for one love what they did with the story. I was pretty busy at the time though, so I wasn’t able to give the multi player much of a work over.
Just looking for opinions, not meaningless anger.
I agree with your halo 2 points. That’s the real reason why I bought it. Halo 2 multiplayer, not even anniversary.
Halo 4 was terrible. And I got it for anniversary and in hopes that I could finally play CE online but apparently that’s the only game you can’t single out and play online you have to hope you get one of the maps in a playlist…

I still don’t understand why H4 is simply terrible

You didn’t play enough halo. Or have a fundamental understanding of what makes the game great then.

I’ve probably played more than you, really. I didn’t like H4, but it wasn’t terrible
I know 343 apologized and all…
But at the same time, I spent $60 on a game that I want to be able to play with it’s full array of features. It’s funny how Microsoft brags about having servers out the -Yoink-, yet they cannot handle a launch that they should’ve expected. It’s stupid and 343 will take a PR hit on this. Without consumers these games would be nothing. Please stop releasing half -Yoink- -Yoink- that doesn’t work.

Exactly. They can apologize but at the end of the day, we all spent 60 dollars on this when it isn’t worth a fraction of that. The game is released in an incomplete state. I’m so tired of this being accepted! If I asked someone to build me a house and spent the money on it, and they didn’t finish my flooring and told me “Working on it around the clock, I’ll have it fixed soon”. Would that be acceptable? No it wouldn’t. Why do we accept spending 60 dollars on incomplete games? Like I said, I understand games have rocky launches due to the crowds of people trying to play all at once but again, that is not at all what is happening here and the game has so much more wrong with it than just that. It literally is a beta that we are participating in. All of this is something that should have been ironed out in beta. Not after release. If you can accept that then more power to you. I on the other hand value the money that I work hard for. The free time I do get to myself I would like to spend it enjoying the game, not reporting stuff wrong with it.
I agree, these products are increasingly becoming released incomplete. Remember the launch of GTA5? The multiplayer was basically unavailable for most people for two to three weeks. I know it was for me. 343 has done the same so far with their multiplayer. Behind me I’ve been sitting in my own party searching for various games. Just sitting there searching for maybe twenty minutes before it notifies me to try again later. I agree though, I don’t know why I paid $60 to beta test a game. Story seems to be working. The frame rate dips some times and in general it just seems kind of unpolished at times. But i’m enjoying the story part. Just looked behind me and it’s been searching for so long, the screen has dimmed out
I’ve already tested my network, Down is 20Mb/s and Up is 11Mb/s. Ping is 46, NAT is open, all the other games are doing fine, and i’m not gonna mess with my network beyond that like they suggest. Already hard restarted the modem, router, Xbox. I’m pretty disappointed honestly. Why is this becoming a trend among big launch titles?.

This. Since when did seeing through walls become fun? Halo 2 and 3 (I know I know, 3 was awful online) were all about even footing at the start of the match. It came down to the teamwork and the marksmanship of the individuals on your team. You weren’t able to rely on all the stupid crutch abilities that they retained in 4. You couldn’t call a sniper down when you were in dire straits. You couldn’t get a speed boost or a free overshield. You had to fight for those on the map. That’s what makes Halo. When you add all that nonsense it becomes exactly that, nonsense.
Meh, I’ve played Sierra 117 and pals since 2001, and I loved HALO 4. Loved it. So… .Yeah. I’ve said before that Legendary Slayer and Proving Grounds in HALO 4 was some of the fastest and most comp HALO I’ve ever played, barring of course Team Hardcore on Midship in H2.

Because we allow it. At the end of the day all they have to do is write an apology to us stating they are doing their best and everyone goes “Oh it’s ok.” It seems the trend of “Release now, patch later” is standard nowadays. These online platforms have pretty much did away with deadlines. “Oh our deadline is November 11th? That’s fine. Whatever isn’t finished can just get patched later on.” If this is the way it has to be so be it. There’s not much any of us can do other than vote with our dollars. The thing that makes me the most angry is the fact that they didn’t test the dedicated servers. How would you expect to release a game that is so beloved by the xbox community and is the sole reason Xbox Live is still around today, without testing the -Yoink!- servers? How can we hold any trust in this team if something that should have been their #1 priority was just looked past? It’s so incredibly obvious they have no idea how to handle this. If this was something as simple as a patch it would have been done by now. They are working directly with the xbox live team and they have made NO progress. You can’t blame the Xbox Live team though, it was purely 343’s responsibility to work everything out. I’d like to see these “reports” they have found showing they made progress.

“31.19:59:32
TOTAL MULTIPLAYER PLAYTIME”
In halo 3
Halo 4 was terrible; but to be fair; it was Bungie who brought the onslaught of Armor Abilities and removing the Rank system that we actually enjoyed. 343; just piled on the crap without listening to us… And from what it looks like with Halo 5; they are adding even more nonsense.
I also thought Halo 4 was terrible. I bought this for the sole purpose of playing Halo 2 online again and nothing works. I will not be buying another 343 game again guaranteed.

/s?
How about I sell an item on eBay, it doesn’t work, I respond by saying they deserve better and I’m sorry.
Yeah… doesn’t fix $h1t.
