It is like you have no sense of time, and clearly you have no patience and obviously have never played a live service game before. first of all, they launched their game during the holidays which should be your first hint as to why really nothing has been patched yet. if this reason has to be explained to you then you are a lost cause. Second of all, you are clearly a newcomer to the series. you are one of the entitled whiny babies who comes to forums to cry about what you think you deserve as you have a complete lack of respect for the devs as humans. The holidays rubbish as you put it isn’t rubbish and they deserved to have their break as they slaved away on a game through a PANDEMIC just so you, the entitled consumer, could enjoy yourself. Third and foremost you list all these “problems” and you are clearly just talking out your A** why would anyone read your post and then think to agree with you. you list lack of transparency and communication; do you not have eyeballs? do you not actually follow the several different ways the community managers constantly communicate to us the community? don’t worry i don’t expect you to respond to this with any sort of intelligent argument.

Summary
its funny reading your reply and clearly seeing how clueless you are as to how this industry works. Go back to CoD fanboy.
I really don’t get it. They will put the effort in to make this a really good package like they eventually did for Halo 5. By the time that happens most of the player base will be gone and all that effort is for only a minimal reward.
They really got a stroke of luck when the new cod and battlefield games turned out to be rubbish this year. According to what people say; I’d never actually play either myself to find out.
Only one chance to make a good first impression etc etc
They sure took their time with the holidays considering it’s the 12th of January, what kind of triple A company backed up by Microsoft leaves the game in that state for almost a month with no sense of urgency to fix it? There’s simply no care in the world put in this game by the developers.
I’ve never heard of such a thing. Surely you get a handful of people and incentivise them to do an extra day or two of work to resolve their issues?
OT pay or approved leave for any day throughout the year. Like any other job where there is a lot of pressure to get things done quickly.
I don’t usually reply to responses of such low calibre and accuracy but you’ve amused me.
How have you reached the conclusion that I’ve early never played a live service game? You’re wrong for for the first time.
Let’s take wow for example; can you imagine if raids didn’t work for 6 weeks (including over the holidays)? I can’t because it wouldn’t happen. That’s a live service game with a team available 24 hours a day. They wouldn’t go on holiday and ignore the game for weeks on end because they have a responsibility. When you have a responsibility and care about something you simply don’t abandon it. We all have jobs, we all have holidays but launching and then abandoning the game for a month in the state it is in, when it’s a AAA title and been in the pipeline for 6 years is simply not acceptable. They have a responsibility! They chose to create a live service game…without the live service.
I’m clearly a newcomer? What are you basing that conclusion on? It seems like you’re trying to discredit my opinion with an ad hom. The very lowest of the low when it comes to discussion.
You’re also wrong again. I’ve been playing since I got my Halo/Midtown Madness Xbox deal back in the day…not that that has any relevance.
We’ve all worked through the pandemic. What’s your point? I should also remind you that they get paid handsomely for their time and effort. You know…like a job.
You haven’t really addressed any of my actual points. You’ve just moaned (you could say whined…) that I’m talking out my backside. Are you able to discuss things and explain yourself?
Out of the whole topic, you’ve addressed one point. The comms from 343 and if you think they’ve been honest, transparent and forthcoming with their communication, then I have no response because we clearly live in completely different worlds with incomparable standards.
Finally I’d again like to point out the rank hypocrasy and irony apparent throughout your entire post. You called me a whiny baby from whom you don’t expect an intelligent reply and yet your post is full of unsubstantiated conclusions that you don’t explain in the slightest, personal attacks, swearing, whining and a very clear lack of understanding of the real world. Hilariously delicious irony.
I strongly advise you take a long hard look in the mirror because you’re not the intellectual titan that you think you are.
you realize that even the devs of a live-service game deserve basic human decency like the right for holidays, right?
Then don’t release a product right before one… Lol.
Sorry but the excuses must stop.
Wait this is a live subscription game? like world of warcraft? oh damn I didn’t know, better go cancel my direct debit.
Oh wait. you’re talking nonsense
what excuse are you talking about? So by your logic, when you take days off your work, it’s just a excuse since you actually should be working right? I mean there must be more work available since you come back to work after your days off…
I don’t think you understand how game development works and it shows.
What do you call a season pass every couple of months then?
It’s a live service game…or more accurately it is supposed to be one.
(I’m aware this first one is longer than that but it’s just launched alongside a 60 buck campaign and they will be more frequent in the future.
So its normal lock colors to the Armor cores and try to sell people the default color red 3 times, and take the 60 basic default colors from Halo 5, or even just the 36 default colors from previus halos and give back 10 for free while locking the others behavior KD a paywall…
Idk, it seems 343 kinda sucks at Live service, These weekly rewards themselves are pretty bad. SERIOUSLY, who takes an emblem than seperates it into the way they have and say that that is considered more content.
And you are disturbed inside that it doesn’t strike you that…
The game could have just gotten pushed until Afterwards…
Is that really that hard for you to to be able to think about?
Does your brain now hurt?
Game already delayed by years.
Company worth a fortune so money is not needed to hold on to company.
Not even a continuation of a story so it isn’t time sensitive or it is has to get out by this many years etc before the gap between the prequel is too long.
ahahahaha.
Literally no reason to release in this state other than greed.
Stop making excuses
This is how I would of implemented love service. But you seem satisfied with the current style and wouldn’t want it become better
STORE/CUSTOMIZATION!
Ok so hopefully someone at 343 actually reads this.
I know the way to fix the Customization and Store, that will actually benefit both parties. Ots not perfect but it’s better than what we have already.
I’m only going to be specific to customization and the Store.
Ok customization first:
We know cross core is in the works, that includes armor attachments, Visors, and peices… So I’m leaving that at at.
Moving on to Coatings.
- Armor Coatings:
-First let’s take the 60 default Colors from Halo 5, we had 5 of each color in 12 verieties. Take the first three of those colors give them for free as the standard default colors for all armor cores.
Take the last two rows of colors and make then unlockable for each core by using that core… Ex play x amount of games in MK 7 unlocks this color coating… Its still free but earnable. We like earning stuff.
Vehicle Coatings:
Using the same Coatings as above, allow players to unlock the default colors for armor but for vehicles, make it like a skill tree, where the player can choose which family of colors to unlock… Ex. I want the greens, for the Warthog… I go into the Warthog settings select the greens. And the challenges are like drive X amount of miles on the Warthog … this unlocks the colors progressively.aybe I unlock 2 shades of green. I unselected and select the yellows… You get the point.
Make this the standard for earning colors the default colors for vehicles.
Weapon Coatings:
Same thing, except maybe split the weapons between a get x amount of kills with and Get x amount of assist with as some weapons are support weapons.
Once you unlocked the colors for one weapon/vehicle/Armor Core. You get a cool reward. If you unlock it for all Weapons/vehicles you get something cooler.
- 343 this means your going to have to make peace with the idea of giving up selling us Default Colors…
The Store:
Ok this thing it’s bad, that’s out the way.
Here’s the fix
1: allow players to buy Indiviaul items, bundles are design to give players a discount of 10-20% if they buy it as a bundle.
2: Coatings/Charms that you buy Universal. Players should not have to buy a charm 4 each time for each weapon/ same with coatings. This means when you buy a coating, you buy it once and.it works on every Armor core, even unreleased ones.
-I didn’t mention Emblems becuase those are techniqually Universal. It it’s how they do it that’s wrong .ill explain next.
3 Emblems: 343 puts emblems in bundles but counts an emblem as 4 items sot accross, Armor, Weapons, Vehicle, Nameplate. That needs to stop.
-Take enlighten Path: bundle was 1 armor effect, 1 emblem. Counted as 4 items.
Emblems will remain Universal but only counted as 1 item in a bundle and it only appears once in a bundle.
4: reduce the price of the bundles or load then with more universal content.
For example,
A bundle can come with an Universal( UL) Armor set, UL Emblem, 3 UL coatings for Armor/Vehicle/weapon, and stance.
For smaller ones make them themed around something.
Aka Vehicle bundle has 5 peices for vehicles, a Flag for the Tank, Turret design for the Warthog, window sheild for the bigger warthog thing… UL emblem/Coatings.
Weapons could be roughly the same it for weapons.
Make these things more interesting than 1 emblem and an armor effect.
This means 343 your gonna have eto get creative, you made this a Live Service now it’s time to fill it up like a live service.
For god sakes add the feature of earning credits through gameplay, Stop Being Stingey
Oh yea Also Progression is simple, just copy the one from Reach, and each rank unlocks that rank as a Universal Emblem. Seriously 6 yr development 80 million dollar budget, and you guys couldn’t just think of this.
Idk, yea they get a vacation granted that was one long vacation,
But we have to be honest this game is being held together by DuckTape and is in a state where if they change one small thing, it breaks a major feature in the game … all they did was add playlist to the game and it broke BTB.
But you can the source of this is coming down to that 343 didn’t have a dedicated Team when building this game.
Once you beat the campaign you see alot of the team were from Temp agencies. Like Randstad.
Not saying they weren’t qualified but who knows, on top of that, how many actually communicated well with each other.
Remember this game had over 80 million dumped into it and is Microsoft biggest IP flagship Franchise…they had 6 yrs to build it…
Only to showcase something lackluster delay it for a while year, only to again fail in the love service department. And show that the games netcode is very unstable and even the slightest tweak just sends it into chaos.
The whole point of a live service game is to continuesly push out content like weekly, but right now 343 is extremely busy putting out fires they themselves created in a situation they themselves put themselves in.
So in that regard I don’t feel bad for them for the situation they are in. It’s their own fault and we are the consumer whom they expect us to fork over cash to what seems like an incompetent live service product.
That’s al.this Halo game is, it’s just another live service product nothing more, and it’s not even good at it.
They have plenty of examples of live service, and what to expect, but 343 is showing that they are more reactive than pro active.
An.anti cheat should have already been in the works, prior to launch. During the test beta and beta launch Hacks we’re already available, but they don’t seem to have been proactive on it. This whole mess is their own fault, so they really don’t get sympathy on that front. Yes they can have a vacation but they don’t deserve sympathy. They already mad eit very clear to us that they are a company that needs to make money because these servers aren’t cheap… Their words not mine. So I’ma treat them as such.
First of all they should have a supporting studio that helps them pump out content faster. Almost every successful f2p shooter has this
2 Weeks is a “long vacation”?
Dude, I just took 4 Weeks off my job to relax lol.
Like I said, those issues won’t be fixed in 2 weeks so them going to vacation or not wouldn’t have changed anything. This game was in development hell and will need most a year to be fully fixed.
Co-op won’t come until S1 drops, then add 1-2 months for fixing to that. Forge comes in S2 and add another 1-2 months for fixing. and we’ll already be around end of 2022.
So “just push it back” wouldn’t have changed anything, as it’s whole development cycle was flawed. You can’t repair problems that persisted through 5 or more years of development in a month or two.
Look at Cyberpunk. That game still is in a state where it’s working towards being the actual promised product. Look at BF2042 and what a cluster-**** that is. Look at No Man’s Sky and how long it took it to redeem itself. Expect those timeframes of 1-2 years before it’s going to be in a decent spot again.
Why does it seem as we get more advanced technology, game development seems to become a larger poop show.
Honestly I think Game companies really need to step back and reaccess how they are building games.
Halo Infinite was a make or Break for 343. They had totally messed up two previous major titles and this was hyped up as some spiritual successor reboot.
Like it was a clean slate start and they still went naw we are gonna F this up bad by putting that 343 spin on it.
I guess not many people care but I have a concern that just bugs me.
Halo had 36 default colors, while 5 gave us 60.
343 really sat down and thought hey we need ideas for microtransactions… And decided why not give the players 10 of those existing default colors and let’s sell them the remaining 50 that they had in Halo 5.
Not saying I could have done better but just think maybe … Just maybe… They should have at the very least made it so players can unlock those colors for free through playing the game
Like attach those 50 default colors to each core, weapon, and vehicle than have set challneges for each one to unlock the colors… And boom content…
But I guess it is what it is. I’m good with my 10 colors… And I’ll just leave those other 50 behind the paywall.
They just said let’s take away content and sell it back to players.
We are reaching a point where games try to be more and more realistic, which increases workload tremendously on people. I mean compare even a Marine NPC from Infinite with one from Halo 1.
You had way faster turnaround cycles back then. Where back then a designer maybe needed a month on a NPC Model, it’s 3-4 Months now, just because of all the insane details etc. Obviously tools have gotten better too, but complexity is growing exponentially whereas tools are not. That’s why work needs more and more time, and as everything needs longer, the teams aren’t as flexible anymore. Add to that that back in the day, many developers either started out in a garage or on other financial support and had a bigger degree of creative independence. Back then, Bungie was bought and they were tasked to create a launch game for the OG XBOX. In a ViDoc it was revealed that Halo at first didn’t even have a Singleplayer. It was MP only to showcase Xbox Live but they threw in the Singleplayer because they could. Imagine, it was just a afterthought. Where in todays time and age, the higher ups say what they want. Infinite MP has to be F2P, monetized, revenue etc.
The whole industry really needs a shakedown. People wouldn’t mind having more “indie-ish” titles that don’t try to recreate the matrix on our PCs but maybe look a bit dated, but are actually fun to play. But that wont happen as long as people buy every years COD, FIFA etc.
Just got into a game of BTB it was 2v1 … Amazing game
