I recently purchased a new Xbox One X and hard copy of Halo 5 after seeing the announcement of the 4K patch being released for the game. I got the new gear hombre, set up but after the game installed, I received no update. I did some digging and saw that the fully patched game should be about 109GB whereas the file that was downloaded during install seems to be just the HD version clocking in at 97GB.
I’ve now been waiting for Xbox support to contact New back for about a WEEK after they told me they needed 3-5 days to “investigate” the issue but it’s becoming clear they’ve got ZERO clue on how to solve this. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I’m on the verge of returning this thing after this experience.
I know the issue isn’t with my TV as I’m running Gears 4 with 4K HDR (after successfully downloading that patch) and Netflix app in 4K HDR with zero issues. I’m on a wired Ethernet connection and my Xbox has over 500GB of space so internet speed and disk space aren’t the issue.
Here’s what I’ve already attempted:
- Uninstalled the game and reinstalled it
- Deleted all data (saved game and other) and reinstalled it.
- Cleared Xbox cache
- Uninstalled game and purchased the digital copy (even though I’ve already paid for a hardcopy)
- Attempted to hard shutdown
- Attempted to change system language and then change it back
- Uninstalled it, “hid” it from my list of “ready to install” items, and factory reset my One X.
- Checked the “keep my games up to date” setting during install and tried it with that setting unchecked as well
No matter how or what I do, the system only pulls the 97GB version of the game to install, and gives me NO update for the 4K patch. The Crazy thing is, the digital version of the game is listed as the “One X Enhanced” version and is the 109GB size in the marketplace, but even after BUYING that version, when the download commences … it’s still the 97GB file.
Xbox support even refunded me that digital purchase over all this.
Any help would be appreciated.
