So hi, I’m from Australia.
I have good internet (80 Mbps up, 16 mbps down). And the issue is my connection to every server and getting worse and worse. And having a 200 ms delay because connecting to servers on the other side of the world which was never really a problem on peer to peer.
This is my story playing halo 5
I Like halo 5 mp, was having a ton of fun the first few months of the game. Have put a lot of time into this game I am currently SR 149. Anyway I started playing this game early January, never was able to find wz assault games or ffa. always thought it was server issues not player population in my area. I was in a big company. One of the biggest in Australia/NZ(First 20 to get Achilles) all we ever did was play normal warzone never touched anything else. One day there was a lot of us on and we came up with the idea of 24 of us searching wz assault. We found each other instantly, we always though it was something to do with servers not allowing people to find matches in those playlists. But It wasn’t, It was player population. Anyway we had a great time playing wz assault, played about 5 games before people started getting offline. It was really fun. So we just kept playing normal warzone and arena for a few months until… Memories of reach came out.
Which came with the new search preferences, focused, balanced, expanded. We searched expanded and had one of the worst experiences with lag, people shooting you through walls, teleporting everywhere, people not dying etc. it wasn’t fun so we didn’t want to ever search expanded again. But because the expanded option was a thing and because of the few thousand people who play halo in Australia, balanced warzone died. And with it 100s of my friends. Expanded was horrid, the problem with expanded was that the servers are usually American dedicated servers, which are located in America with Americans playing on them, which isn’t fun playing against a bunch of people on the other side of the world on their server, almost the whole warzone community from Australia died. There were very few people left that played warzone so a lot of people went over to arena. But playing warzone every day having a ton of fun and being used to that is very different to ranked arena. Smurf accounts infested balanced arena and a lot of the casual/lower ranked players quit. Because it was either get destroyed in arena or play unplayable warzone. Anyway arena ended up only being able to find balanced on team arena, breakout, and maybe slayer depending on what time of day. The few people left in my region lobbied up and went into expanded warzone,(There was even an lfg Oceania facebook page for people to group up or search a certain arena playlist on balanced at a certain time) a lot of the time we lost, even though we were all solid players because of the connection. More updates came, warzone firefight update arrived, a lot of us already hated warzone ai and couldn’t wait for the new boss refresh and we were hoping they would get rid of pilot dalamen. But it was much worse, I would of preferred 10 pilot dalamens than the mass swarms of ai and we didn’t enjoy dying to ai more than the enemy.
About 2 weeks into the wz firefight update was when most of my a lot smaller group of friends since launch quit. The lag and Ai together wasn’t fun. And since firefight came out, everyone was playing that so there was only 2 playlists that you were able to find balanced games on, Team Arena and warzone firefight. I really got angry at arena since I had put 20 days into warzone and I quit halo for 3 months.
Anyway I came back in October, got into some sweat wz company which was alright, still the terrible lag but I would usually win. Anyway I got used to the lag, played every day, somehow got champion 120 in swat bc the night arena reset was when you could find balanced games and I got placed into onyx 1600 and grinded to champ I won all balanced games but 1, (22 games) and it went back to not finding any balanced games so I searched expanded and lost 17 games and won 2. That was very frustrating. Anyway I didn’t touch arena besides super fiesta when that came out. And a pretty much only played warzone with my new sweat company.
Anyway monitors bounty came out and they put like 10 other playlists into the game which killed all balanced options, and made wz fireteam limit 6 and I got into an argument with the company leader bc I didn’t have a mic and a mic was crucial in 6 man warzone teams if you want to win. Anyway left that company. Now in a different one. Not happy every update becoming worse for me and better for everyone else, I now am a solo player with no friends on halo because everyone I knew quit because the lag. I play arena now on expanded which has horrible lag and I lose almost all 1 on 1s, I have sort of accepted that lag besides in swat, I get very angry in swat because the connection I think causes some sort of un aim assist which pulls the reticle away from people’s heads and where they were 0.2 seconds ago which is so stupid. I joined a 4v4 CTF custom game with all people from my region and I couldn’t believe the connection it was amazing being able to actually shoot people and shots registered. I forgot what balanced was like, I have complained about this connection issue many other times but no one ever seems to listen. I’m hoping someone at 343i sees this post since it has taken me an hour to type it all out of my phone, please put some kind of neutral server system thing in so I don’t always have extreme disadvantages. Anyway the problem with the connection is the 200 ms delay(0.2 seconds)connecting to a dedicated server on the other side of the world which is enough to lose most of my 1 on 1s, and this is the same issue for the few people left in my region. I’m posting about this now because I simply can’t play anymore. Oh also now can’t find expanded swat or breakout now bc the amount of playlists that exist and Timezone.

Have got 3 com bans on xbox bc the h5 server issues and people that say stuff like that on Xbox
