just thought I should post what ive done to minimize this problem, maybe it could help a few of you that also have this problem (my xbox is a 250gb xbox elite)
description of problem:
If you are unable to load a Campaign mission, returned to the title screen or crash in Matchmaking (immediately after the countdown or while the map is loading), or having trouble installing Disk 1 to your hard drive, please try the following: If you have a hard drive with enough free space, please attempt to install Disk 1 to your hard drive. If the install fails, please send us the following information, as it will help us identify the issue.
Things i’ve tried (and didnt work so dont bother)
deleting cashe
installing/reinstalling disk 1 and 2 (multiple times)
installing disk 2 through live (again multiple times)
redownloading xbox live account
completely formatting my harddrive
trading disks
using a cleaning duster for the optical drive
posting on the issues forum and pming my colsoe info (never got any acknowledgement)
its not fallback hoppers
my nat is open and ive run a diagnostics test with a microsoft representative for my network connection
how i have minimized the problem
when this happens i can usually only play haven or complex, all other matchmaking maps end up booting me to the main menu. however i noticed that those two maps also trigger the problem (a bigger map as well but i havent really noticed which one). one i play those maps all other maps fail to work for me. i don’t seem to have had this problem offline (with wargames) so if you want to play through the rest of the story try doing it offline, it may work out.
i had to reinstall disk 1 multiple times to get through campaign. if the problem occurs turn off the xbox and wait until the xbox is completely shut off (fan has to stop as well, or you will get disk read error when you try to start up the game). sometimes pressing “start” to check your loadouts, armor, challenges, controller settings, etc. will trigger a “saving game” message to appear. this messes it up for me so i try not to check out my loadouts or challenges so much. the last thing that triggers it for me is when you press “x” to see party details or friends that are online, this too triggers the saving game to appear on the bottom so avoid checking the party list.

to 343: this problem has been going on since the start and has caused people to sell their game ex. “Vedfolnir”, “I OneManClan I” and probably more… at least please acknowledge my post this time
