Right after warzone turbo came out I am unable to leave the matchmaking lobby before a new games starts. I’ve had to quit a couple matches so far
The option to leave doesn’t come up at all not unlike the problem of when it will come up but it doesn’t take the command but it just doesn’t show up.
This always happens when the new content is released. In time it will fix itself. Another thing you can try is a cold boot of the XBOX.

Turning it off was how I left the lobby they are in my game data as dnf even though no game started

When that happens to me, I do the same, and never got a DNF. That sucks!
