UNABLE TO JOIN & CONNECTION LOST Glitches

Hello 343, I first want to say that I think Halo 5 is a great game and I enjoy it very much. I may come across as aggressive in this comment but I wrote this right after I had this very annoying problem in Halo 5.

There is one bug in Halo 5 that has been irritating fans of the game since launch. I have experienced it since launch and it is the MOST game-breaking bug I have ever seen in a video game. And it is the “UNABLE TO JOIN Request to join has been timed out” or “CONNECTION LOST You have been disconnected from the local network” glitch. If you get this glitch it will obstruct you from playing anything online-related in Halo 5 for any varied period of time depending on your game copy.

I’ve been reading a lot of things on this glitch since the first few days of Halo 5’s launch, and it is quite an unusual glitch. It seems that the glitch varies from different Halo 5 game copies. Each game copy seems to have it’s own weird form of the glitch, it ranges in how long it keeps you from playing and it ranges in its ability to fix. Some people barely encounter it, some have been unable to play halo 5 for a week due to the glitch, some have never been able to play the game ever again because of this glitch never letting them play. Some have been able to find ways around this glitch as easy as simply restarting the game, and some have been unable to fix it entirely and all of the suggested options that are meant to fix it doesn’t work.
My experience with the glitch has only been a day’s to two day’s last, I’ve only been able to play 2-5 games per day before it happens to me, and I have found NO workaround this glitch. I’ve seen countless people writing on how to fix this bug but none of them work for me, also proving that this glitch varies from different copies of the game. Remember, this glitch has been happening since LAUNCH, please just F I X T H I S 343. Everyone in the community who plays Halo 5 has experienced this bug and hates it, I’ve read up on it and it seems that everyone has this issue and many people have been begging you guys to fix it. But all I’ve heard from you, 343, is NOTHING. You have never mentioned this bug that has been in Halo 5 since it’s inception.
This is not a wifi connection issue, nor is it a console issue, it is a Halo 5 only issue. Many times after I’ve encountered the “Connection Lost” and “Unable To Join” glitch I have gone to other online games on my Xbox and they work fine, completely fine connection.

So please 343, this may come across as a bit rude or aggressive, but I DEMAND that you and your team try your best to fix this glitch. Remember, some people that have the really bad variety of this glitch (never being able to join a game and it being impossible to fix the glitch) payed 60 dollars for this game and for some of them they have never been able to even touch multiplayer or have barely been able to play multiplayer. Once again, this is the most game-breaking glitch I’ve ever experienced in a video game, and there seems to be no definitive way to fix the glitch entirley (it varies among different copies of the game, remember).

Thank you for reading this.

I too have had this happen I agree its annoying most times you only need 1 person. No matter what your search settings are balanced focused or expanded it just happens. Something needs to be done about this though sometimes leaving the game and quiting it from the home screen helps me out for a little bit anyways.

I don’t see this getting fixed, along with the post game lobby freezing. Beyond irritating, I usually just get off now when it happens.

most disconnect issues are remedied by going wired with an open nat. This game is very sensitive to WiFi connections.

This is happening 2 too many people for it to be the Wi-Fi its just something that happens. My WiFi will be strong everything good nobody else on my Wi-Fi experiencing any problems.

Wifi and halo do not do well together. Wired and open nat and no problems here.

I don’t follow the “happening 2 too many…” logic. I am providing a remedy based on what has worked for me. If you do not want to try it, don’t.

I tried wired and it happened again whether it was because of members of my fireteam on Wi-Fi don’t know ill try it again but play alone. I figured it was worth a try another solution if possible is to invite a friend sometimes that works.

Absolutely , I play on a 6mb down, 1mb up connection just fine.

Doubt it, I have fine WiFi connection and it works completly fine with other games and Halo 5, it clearly works because in Halo 5 it loads me into a lobby and THEN it comes up with the UNABLE to connect screen

Doubt it all you want but he is telling you the truth. Halo 5’s matchmaking is a bit picky and wireless is easily interfered with. If the signal drops slightly the servers will see you as having a poor connection and you are out.

I don’t think so. Once again, (in my experience) once Halo 5’s matchmaking has stopped working it has not worked the rest of the day no matter how much the wireless connection dips and rises. In many cases once it -Yoinks!- up I’ve made everyone stop using the wifi, I rebooted the wifi and restarted the Xbox, it still didn’t work. I truly think this is a bug with Halo 5 and not a wifi connection issue.

That is always the best way to solve a problem. Blame it on someone else instead of trying to fix it.

You are blaming it on 343 and their servers, that is who. Countless threads on here about having connection problems running wireless. Wireless is easily interrupted by electrical interference, phones, remote control items, metal, power line interference and a whole list of other things. I had those issues when I first started H5 and guess what??? Fixed it with a wired connection and an open NAT.

ah I’m a moron. I missed the part where MATADOR mentioned the “wired” connection issues. I thought he was talking about general connection issues wireless or not
Sorry for the confusion
I gave wired a go quite a while ago and it didn’t work but I guess it won’t hurt to try again

Clear your cache after you hook up the ethernet, flush out all of those old settings. If you remember your xbox live email and password then you can reset your console saving games and apps from the settings menu. That makes a big difference.

This A1tontoyota guy is such a tool. Halo 5 is the worst of the series ,and full of known glitches and issues on 343’s side and he’s here making it sound like its user error. I didn’t even get this problem UNTIL i went from WIFI to wired. And yes, it’s open, and i’ve done lots of connection troubleshooting. It is 343’s fault, and independent of wired connections. So now you look like an idiot for being wrong, and a tool. Congrats on the double whammy.
