Unable to connect and I’m out of ideas. Help

After an hour and a half on the phone with xbox live they couldn’t help me sent me here for developer support.

I can’t connect to multiplayer. I can’t even select a playlist and I get “Error retrieving data center connection quality information. Please try again later.” and “Could not find a server that was suitable for all members of your fire team.”

The short version is this has been happening for like 2 weeks and I have covered ALL of my bases. NAT is open, UPNP is good, I have wired connections, I have great internet speeds, cleared my MAC address, done multiple resets, even factory reset my xbox, and I uninstalled and downloaded the game again.

It’s just Halo 5 that isn’t working.

I am out of ideas and so was xbox live support. Help…

Same thing is happening to me. Its so frustrating that we cant seem to get a response on this

Hey! I’ve got a couple questions for you to see if we can help. Would you mind providing the following:

  • What region are you playing from? - Who is your ISP? - What type of router are you using? - Are you connected via ethernet or WiFi? - What day did this start happening?Any additional information you could provide here would be extremely helpful!

unyshek I am in the southeast US - Georgia specifically.
We have Xfinity using a motorola router.
I am connected via ethernet.
I do not know an exact date that it started but it was around Thanksgiving weekend.

As an added tidbit of info; all of this same equipment and setup has been the same for like 2 years. Nothing has changed and this was an “all the sudden” type of issue.

I really appreciate the reply man!

unyshek can I get an update on this issue? Y’all are killing my chances at 152 here.

Hey there - I’m not Uny but I have a question or two for you.

Are you able to go to a friend’s house and try your Gamertag on their copy of Halo 5? Alternatively, can you try maybe using a different network, like a mobile wifi network, to see if that helps?

Also, do you have any other Gamertags on your console that play Halo 5? If so, are those able to connect to the game?

Doing all these will help narrow down if it’s game, account, or internet related.

Hi! I could try a different network at a family members house. I currently don’t have any other gamertags. I could make a throw away and try that as well.

I haven’t done either of these since everything else works fine. It’s just Halo 5 that is an issue. I’m willing to try anything at this point. lol

snickerdoodle I took my xbox to a friends and used their network and Halo 5 connected without issue. I played one multiplayer match and everything was fine. My home network has been fine on this game for years… so what do we do from here?

If it’s working elsewhere, it sounds like an issue with your network/ISP. Which, unfortunately, means there’s not a lot we can do from our end.

Look into your hardware, make sure all the software is updated and on the latest firmware. Look into opening your router’s ports for Halo 5. See if your ISP has somehow blocked you from hitting the Halo servers.

Okay I will try that. Thanks for the help!

You could try to get a new address for the xbox in the internet settings on the xbox. I had this problem where I used to live before, then setting fixed dns on the xbox solved the problem.
