This is my attempt to organize the communities thoughts on what we want for Halo 4.
Hopefully this gets read and considered by 343, and if it’s not too late (which it probably is) will get implemented into Halo 4.
I will update this list as people add
Guidelines:
If you have any other ideas add them in a simple list form below, and try to take your idea to its core and be specific.
If you agree with an idea, either quote what you like, or just give it thanks (top hand corner of that post). Try to not repeat any ideas, this keeps the thread nice and clean for anyone to read.
If you disagree with an idea, just quote it and put a :(. Also try to be productive and list what you want instead, keeping in mind the first guideline.
Our Halo 4:
Skill Based
- Faster kill times for precision weapons
- Smaller hit-box for sniping (mainly directed at Reach)
- Little aim assist (The reticle drag when an enemy runs in front)
- Something similar to Halo2/3 ranking system
- No bloom, and possibly a small amount of recoil
- Slightly more precise AR
- No Aim assist for sword and rockets
Multiplayer
- Less playlists and more gametypes in playlists (IMO this would bring a closer community, and make online more interesting without doing much.)
- No armor abilities or, I could see actually having armor abilities but just making them for significantly shorter times. So sprint would essentially be a speed boost/lunge. This would need to be tested, but if it is balanced I think it would add to online gameplay.
- Changing lists of maps (provided forge is coming back). Some of the best maps right now in reach are community ones, so if we are getting new maps in all the time, and old unwanted maps removed, Halo 4 could have the best and most playable maps in multiplayer all the time.
- Racing Playlist
- Add groups or teams into the game. This could help to match teams against teams, instead of one competitive team vs a bunch of randoms. I see this being implemented much like how BF3 does it, except even more structured.
- Dedicated servers for 16+ player games and competitive games
- More playable species and characters (including spartan, elite, brute, forerunner, etc.)
- Team Balancing after players quitting or booted
Customization
- A color wheel for all color customization
- Place your emblem on your spartan anywhere you want (like vinyls in racing games)
- Armor unlocked from a variety of ways (completing campaign, forge hours, multiplayer achievements, etc.)
- Pre-made and custom emblems. (Custom can be made just by a shape editor)
- Custom Controls
Forge (Provided there is a forge)
- Copy, Paste, Flip and Undo. This would make map making so much faster and easier.
- Control Despawn times. (So power weapons stay around longer, and balls disappear faster)
- More control over adding/making a gametype. (essentially, allow for more if thens and switches for the forgers)
- More color and colorful options. Halo is a lively game, why dull it down with all grey blocks?
- Tether objects (Glue objects together so they act as one object)
- Motors (allow the rotation of any object at a specified speed. Could be used for a rotating map, or a spinning obstacle)
- Weather and Lighting controls
- A PC Extension to allow editing on the computer
- More Vehicles
- More Precise Snapping Feature

I agree with pretty much all of this, all though I’d like to see a check point system that we could use in obstacle courses not just race gametypes, and a Custom Games playlist where you can play those fun custom games that you never have enough friends online to enjoy.
EDIT: I also hope they don’t include joining match making games in progress, it’s annoying joining a game just to play for five seconds.

I don’t really like going here because people all want the same thing like weather, copy-pasta, ect… So just put that.
I want Sprint and the Halo Reach default control scheme and that’s all, whatever 343i changes or keeps I will like it know matter what, like a True Halo fan I am, I like all the Halo games for what makes them different and what makes them the same.
Skill Based
Dont got any complaints EXCEPT make the AR a little more reliable
Multiplayer
- Human count and percentages for infection custom games (for people who want to make things like L4D)
- 3rd person option (it could work)
- DONT give elites advantages over spartans, keep them at equal level so both can share playlist (like in H2 & H3)
- halo 3 equipment replaces armor ablilities
Customization
- black as a custom color
- more than two species to play as
- all species have full customization
Forge
- textures and colors for forge pieces and vehicles
- better snap feature
- roads, sidewalks, bridges (human, covie, and forunner)
- weather and time-of-day options
- toggle team colors
Campaign
- all i ask for is one moment where a cyclops comes in and saves you from a humongous attacker
Firefight
- able to buy halo universe characters (chief, arbiter, johnson) to use in firefight
- big, fun maps like ODST. Lost Platoon was my favorite
- remake of lost platoon
Team balancing for when people quit. I’m not saying there should be hot-join, they should try to balance teams by taking players from the larger team and putting them on the smaller team. Also when this happens team scores and individual scores should be uninterrupted. The people that were put on the other team would just score for the new team for the rest of the game.
playability as Brutes in MM. Atleast like Brute Slayer or Invasion, but preferably anytime you want
Weather and Time of Day effects for Forge.
I need those so much.
VIP needs to make a return as well.
Sangheili in MM.
And Dropships in forge, as well as locusts, scarabs, vampires, and vultures.
No aim assist
You really dont know how much that would affect the game and in turn create longer kills times.
Seems very contradictory. This is not mouse/keyboard, aim assist is crucial in console FPS
Vehicles
lots and lots of vehicles
ohh, and some AI controlled sentries,
like the base turrets from HW,
or the Wolf spider turrets from Reach
or even the Gatling gun, AA cannon seen in reach

This but also wit flood Spartans who play just like a regular Spartan who has rechargable shields and uses vehicles and weapons with same hit boxes. The only difference between them and normal spartans are looks and when they melée they use their whip. Also I want to customize them just like I can a normal Spartan (give or take)
2nd I want bots for custom games who play most game types
Thanks for all the great feedback guys. Im a little bit surprised at the positive response (lets just say forums dont have the greatest rep for being polite). I will be updating the list tomorrow afternoon with most of your ideas, and hopefully I can think up some more ideas that could be included.
I hope that when they say they’re going to put us “in the suit,” they mean it. I’m hoping that there’s some sort of new physics engine where our Spartan actually weight 1 ton. No more of this effortlessly gliding downward with a gentle fall, I want to FALL. I want it so that when we jump, we jump up about the same height as in past games, but when we come down we come down hard. It would also be great if when we land on enemies, we do damage. I mean come on, a 1 ton object falls on you and just slides off?
MA5B Assault Rifle (60 rounds per clip).
Better balance between precision weapons and automatic weapons.

I think game devs are limited by the hardware of the consoles and xbox live on this one. However, 343 could implement servers just for EBTB (16+ Big team battles) so that it doesnt overload the host, but even then no guarantees that it would actually work.
