un-armored missions

It would be interesting if there were missions in future games where you had to go undercover without armor, with more of a stealthy ODST style. The idea coudl be that you have a concealed shield generator still that’s a bit weaker, but you’d also move, jump, and melee with less power. Since it’s a first person game, it’s a great way to humanize MC without revealing his face, and it would make a lot of sense considering the galaxy is being ruled by beings who can be in thousands of places at once and see through every security camera, and I doubt they’d be able to ignore a bunch of spartans poking around. It would emphasize a more underdog kind of feeling. (would also make for a good “wait is this halo?” moment when they reveal the game)

I think it would be a great way to do the more story-focused exploration missions from 5, where there would be a reason you’re mostly not fighting people and just talking, but there would also be potential for bits of combat and stealth. NOT suggesting that this should replace slots that a normal main mission could fill, I’m talking about smaller connective changes of pace in between more straightforward fighting.

These sorts of missions could also transition into traditional ones by the spartans calling in their armor (kind of like titanfall except only in the most superficial sense so don’t whine about it, people-who-hate-when-anything-is-similar-to-anything-else)

Halo: Zero Mission (metroid reference)

I like this idea! Though the idea of wearing no armour to avoid detection wouldn’t work with the likely plot of Halo 5. The “Created” would have access to facial recognition from ONI most likely.

Like the mission to capture Colonel Watts before Blue Team got their armor? I’d like that.

I like the stealth idea, but no armor? Meh.

P.S.Nothing’s good without the sniper rifle.

Lore wise, it is possible with their current armor configurations. The MJOLNIR armor operates on a single microfusion reactor; thus its power has to be carefully distributed so not to overheat the system. Redirecting components such as shields and radar into permanent active camo would actually be pretty believable.

Though, the strength part comes standard with the armor (liquid crystal layer). So that’s not going away.

Totally had the same idea! Nice! xD

It would be good but everyone would say it`s ripping Cod and BF off.

YAS. A whole “Spec Ops” kinda Halo would be cool, similar to Headhunters or some of the other Halo anime

Yes that would be so cool.

I did think of that, and I think that could actually help justify some of the stealth gameplay. If, for instance, they’re wearing holographic/hard light face projections, you could explain detection radiuses as being the distance at which a camera or robotic enemy can tell the face is false.

Either that or you simply need to evade cameras in general, and the main advantage being armorless gives is that the mjolnir power signature can’t be detected since the non-integrated shield uses less energy. (perhaps you could add ‘slower recharge’ to the list of disadvantages it has, reflecting that)

It’s also possible that the reason for going in armorless would be that they’re in a non-surveilled area but civilians have been told that spartans are terrorists and obviously they stand out way more when they’re in their armor. But the concept would be that the Spartans are looking for intel or meeting a civilian ally who has information, since comms would likely be monitored. (civilian could refer to any species, btw)

There are ways they could make this work, and as I said before they would much better justify slower-paced in-game dialogue sequences.

It would be cool if there was a mission with insurrectionists.
