I’ve only seen this particular type of kill detection glitch once before with and enemy splatter given to my self while I was shooting the ghost that did the splatter. In the video an enemy player throws a splinter grenade as I shoot him then the grenade becomes my grenade for some reason and a team mate runs into it for what ever reason and I get a betrayal for a grenade I didn’t throw.
1st video gameplay, 2nd video theater
crazy. this has probably happened to me without even realizing it. Good catch. Although, theater from the perspective from the guy throwing the splinter would help prove your point, or static cam from a good angle, slo-motion even. Interesting all the same.
Send it to the act man haha, it is most certainly odd though I’ve never encountered it

You shot the grenade as it left his hand, since you detonated it, it became “your” grenade. Thats kind of a common type of deal in Halo. Like if someone shoots a wraith with a laser (the wraith has a ~1 second destruction animation) and you shoot it once with your BR before the blowup animation ends, you’ll be awarded the kill. Or if an enemy blows up a team wraith and you shoot it before the animation completes, the wraith will explode but your teammate will survive it (if it’s a non-friendly fire game mode) because you were the last one to cause damage to the wraith before it blows up.
that does make sense. normally you shoot it laying on the ground, not leaving an opponents hand. The odds of that happening are crazy. Wonder how often I’ve been killed by my own grenades shot out of my hand.

I didn’t know I could shoot splinters grenades I’m sure I’ve tried it before and nothing happened.
But in your wraith comments how would damage with a br give you a kill with a laser
Like this wraith clip were I still got the destruction medal but not the kill.
i have a ton of wraith clips were I’ve gotten the wraith kill with grenades or power weapons I wasn’t using.

It doesn’t give you a kill with the laser, you would need to see a clip of it or do it yourself to understand. Next time you see a wraith get blown up, out a couple shots into it before the explosion animation completes. You will get the kill for it. And you can’t shoot your own grenade, but grenades thrown at you and grenades on the ground are fair game. Just like how you were able to directly hit an enemy with your rocket in Halo 3, but if your rocket were to hit your body, it would just go right through you (this was tested by putting two teleporters in a straight line, as he shot the rocket, he went through the teleporter to quickly reach the rockets end destination). I could be wrong about you being unable to shoot your own grenades. I have tried many times to throw a grenade straight up and hit it with a DMR, but I think I just remember the shots hitting the grenade without any effect.

It does give you the kill with the power weapon. I completed a few commendations with out ever using the weapon. I got all the way to finishing my laser commendations with only actually completing about 10 of the kills my self.

Alright I guess I just haven’t noticed that. I can’t explain that one and I’ve been up well over 24 hours so I can’t really brain right now to figure out a reason.
Shooting a wraith with an smg I’ve gotten grenade, rocket, sniper, laser, other vehicle kill medals. It’s given me the medals, the kill, and counted towards the commendation. I kind of knew it would happen as long as I got the damage in on the last second.
I had posted this ages ago but the topic was locked for an unknown reason because some one from 343 posted a hidden message. Maybe in the 1st month of release.

On my Xbox dvr page I’ve gotten a lot of smg kills on wraith clips that have giving me a lot of power weapon kills. I was exited cause I thought I got the very rare transfer across a team.
Has happened to me a few times. It’s some odd timing with only the splinter nad it seems. I’ll shoot the person throwing it at me. Then a team mate go head first into the splinter and I’ll get a betrayal…

I tried shooting splinter grenades and they take more than one shot to detonate. I think it was like 2-3 shots before it went off.
Maybe you shot the enemy as soon as the grenade left his hand, so since owner of the grenade died so fast the game tried to assign it to the nearest player. Idk, it could be a possibility.
I had the rare betrayal glitch earlier in WZFF. Apparently forerunner soldier captains destroying me and a teammate on the teammate’s gun-goose with a poorly timed grenade throw on my part, with their splinter turrets, resulted in me betraying my teammate.
I’m not sure but I think when you get a medal for a boss kill but it is rewarded to the enemy team. I think it’s similar to when you get a wraith medal but not the kill.
I managed to steal an ai kill for the 1st time A warthog boss
I thought I also got a double kill glitch on a boss but I was wrong.
I wonder if I could steal an enemies kill in warzone by ramming into a team mates wraith with a vehicle. Or even a rocket hog cause friendly fire still indicates green.
