T’was a sunny weekend in the midwest as I and three other Xbox Live friends decided to go for the “Vidmaster: Endure” Achievement in Halo 3: ODST, ONI Headquarters Map, Firefight. We’d sat for about 3 hours in on the final wave…4 enemies left. The final assault, the Covies’d come blazin’ in. One ODST down, then another.
“This is it, Tom. DON’T YOU @#&%!* DIE!!!” My fellow ODST warns.
“I’m scared!” I nervously muttered. LOL
“F**** G**** D****, S***…I’m freakin’ dead!” The last ODST shouts in a feeble plea as he takes a needler to the face, forever decommissioning a valiant soldier.
I take his rockets, 3 enemies left. I kill two…
and then a single Jackal with a plasma pistol, we meet in a hallway. I jump as I fire 1 rocket at him, the blasted Jackal dodge-rolls away from it. As I spin back around to make another rocket run on him
I TAKE ONE CHARGED PLASMA SHOT TO THE FACE…
DEAD.
Needless to say, beers were not had, an Achievement, ungained.

Tell us your unbelievable moments that you have experienced in Campaign or Firefight.
The worst experience is having to deal with the latency among 3 other players for hours (if you include other achievements as well). Never personally had an experience that terrible, but Ive heard a similar story of a squad losing to the last brute on the map.
I still feel bad about this to this day. We were about halfway through Endure when my batteries died on the controller. The disconnect ended the game, which then led to a few successive lagout attempts.
While I never felt Endure was difficult, the length of time it took for that achievement considering the propensity of lagout and other issues made it one of the more satisfying achievements in the Halo franchise.
Twice, two times I have gone for that achievement. Both times we would make it to the 4th set nearning 5th when…SOMEONES INTERNET QUIT OUT AND WE ALL LAG FROM THE GAME. twice this happened no joke.
