Am I the only one who see’s MLG pros nowadays as “those guys that are good at Halo only if they play on these gray maps with these special settings” ?
I miss when everyone was playing the same thing on the same maps, to be honest.

I get the feeling this isn’t about Halo 4 and you posted in the wrong forum.
Trust me, i have a brother who plays Reach and he’s actually not half bad. He ended up matching with a pro searching alone and being paired up with bad randoms on both sides. Let’s just say that the pro (SK in fact) ends up carrying the thumbless warriors without breaking much of a sweat. On the Team Slayer playlist and on Zealot.

Cool story bro. Shamefully, pros are too proud to play against each other on normal maps, even though the whole point of MLG is to entertain the Halo fanbase, from which only a tiny fraction plays on MLG settings/maps.

Regardless, this has nothing to do with Halo 4 bro. Or did you somehow miss that?
Pros would be playing on the default Reach maps if they weren’t so imbalanced.
The only reason they are playing on grey forge maps is because the maps which were ‘shipped’ with the game were very very unbalanced and not that great, don’t hate on them, there is not much they can do other than make there own maps.
Grey maps are very boring and dull, do you think they enjoy playing on them?
This is the wrong place to discuss this.

Exactly let me make the reminder (someone move this thread please).
Reflection spawns favor the red team and if they are decent and you are blue, you lost. Competitive Halo has players start off as equals, not one sided matches where pillars are abused and jetpack is king.
Pinnacle is flipped and favors the blues with instant rockets, shotty, and sniper. Reds only get a sniper. Also the map plays terribly as it’s hard to get any enjoyment out it and the spawns are just ugh.
Countdown has a MAJOR emphasis on CQC power weapons (Swordy, Concussion, and shotty) and this makes the map very…intolerable to play at a competitive level (in fact it’s laughable). I don’t believe MLG favors the CQC weapons, especially the Sword.
Zealot isn’t so bad but that gimmicky space section just doesn’t fit competitively and adding a teleporter to get easy access to top was nice (i think they still have that, correct me i am wrong). The sword was gone as well (no surprise there).
Asylum suffers the unfortunate fate of being a poor mans Sanctuary, the sight lines are off and the frame rate issues (like in most forge maps) applies to this map. Otherwise, it may not be the best but it’s more playable than say Pinnacle or The Cage.
The Cage: Horrible map that proves that you can’t make a map for the Jetpack without invalidating the rest of the AAs. Though Jetpack does this in many maps, it does it best here. Not very competitive, which is why you don’t see anyone rushing to make a competitive version of the map because it sucks.
Boardwalk:= Its a bit large for competitive 4 V 4 IMO. I could see the bottom half the level somehow being blocked off if it were implemented.
This belongs on the Reach forum. Unless you edit your post to at least mention that you hope this doesn’t happen in Halo 4?

MLG Players don’t play on only grey maps and in fact made a concerted effort to keep default Halo Reach maps in the playlist when they really didn’t need to.
And the MLG guys play on these “special settings” on these “special maps” because the settings and maps are tweaked and changed in order to provide a more balanced and skilled experience. Playing Swordbase with AR starts and AL is common practice on Team Slayer, but you can’t possibly argue that therefore it should be in MLG. MLG is the most competitive experience that the pro players can get out of a game, and they don’t WANT to play against each other on normal maps and settings with obvious flaws.
Dude, MLG pro’s are good at Halo period. They play on special maps with special settings because it is the most balanced and competitive they can make the game without breaking the original concept.
Still, you posted this in the wrong place.

I don’t understand why with all the forge world maps, why don’t special effects ever get applied? Like JUICY, NEXT GEN, ORANGE? Just to name a few. If you overlap 2 effects you end up with amazing results. It may be a little harder to see targets but it sure as hell looks better.
MLG realized that default Reach was horrible for competitive play, so they didn’t have much of a choice to change the settings. This is why the MLG playlist is the most competitive playlist in Reach.
Mlg is all about map control, team work and individual skill. Social slayer is about none really
You are not the only one, I look forward to Halo 4 when potentially MLG and Halo will again align settings. Until then Im not going to waste my time playing alternate setting games. As far as maps, meh, dont care color is overrated.
