If the infinity is supposed to be so big why does it look so small . It doesn’t give you that awe a covenant super carrier gives you when you see it, like at the end of ODST I don’t know why but maybe it’s just me .
Could just be a problem with perspective.
Like when it’s crash landed it looks as big as the pillar of autumn . Or when pelicans are flying next to it in cut scenes it looks small . If its that big then you shouldn’t see the whole ship . Like the super carrier at the end of tip of the spear in halo reach you only see the bottom center of it and at the end of odst when a super carrier comes out of slip space you only see the front half for that moment because its so big
The Infinity isn’t nearly as big as a Super Carrier.
H4 has a lot of weird scaling things. Mantle’s Approach is bigger than the first Death Star and yet Lich’s aren’t little dots next to it, heck they look like the size Infinity should be next to it.
Yep the size is different from scene to scene with almost everything
> Yep the size is different from scene to scene with almost everything
I’d say the transition to Midnight is the worst. The size of the ship when the Broadsword piggy-backs on it looks like it’d fit inside the first segment of the ‘death star’ run.
Most of the model is clearly just big metal plates, but once your there you find it suddenly has this random trench that runs its length.
Not that weird scales are new to halo, the first Warthog run is longer than the Pillar of Autumn by about double, not to mention despite covering ground equal to twice the ship’s length in almost a straight line…you leave from bout the middle of its side.
I’m sorry a super carrier is like 8 times the size of the infinity I was thinking of an assault carrier
Here’s a size comparison
> Could just be a problem with perspective.
This, Plus 343 dont really know how to use atmospheric perspective like Bungie did.
As big as the Autumn when it’s crashed?
At the start of the level “Infinity” you’re looking at a small section of its side. The front is still a ways out of view and the back is still a ways out of view.
After moving through the jungle for quite some time you end up at the landing zone. Only here to you actually see its engines, on the other side of the jungle.
If you out that into view, it gets kind of big.
A great view of size comes from the last part of Reclaimer. When you exit the teleporter Infinity starts rolling up on the horizon. And it is gigantic. Looking towards the engines is so awkward with how long it is. It’s so far away.
Another reference could be SpOps Ep1. The Infinity rams a Heavy Cruiser, which is around the size of the traditional Battlecruiser we usually see. Infinity towers over it and plows straight through it.
It is difficult to use the in-game models to see the true scale of some things. It’s hard to tell how far away things are from the object, and it makes it seem small.
Mantle’s Approach and those Liches is a major example.
But then you consider that the whole end of the Broadsword run, that gigantic circular area surrounding the Composer, is a tiny part on the front of Approach.
Thinking back to the whole Broadsword run, the ship becomes enormous, as it truly is.
Like JSA343 said, you have to take in logic and perspective to this.
But they ARE wonky with sizes and comparisons in this game. Don’t even get me started on Master Chief’s height compared to other characters; He’s 7’2" in his armor (which is obviously how we ALWAYS see him) and Del Rio (the UNSC Infinity captain)is 5’11", yet somehow he comes up to Chief’s chest or so when they’re standing right across from each other? That makes no sense. It’s not quite the same, but it kinda shows that sizes and size comparisons aren’t really shown well in the game. But I can overlook that because everything looks so great regardless. 343 kicked -Yoink- with the graphics.
I thought the infinity looked pretty big at the end of the mission reclaimer and when it just came out of slip space and smashed through the covenant ships like it didn’t mean anything, but that’s just me
> It doesn’t give you that awe a covenant super carrier gives you when you see it
Probably because a CSO-Class Supercarrier is over 19 miles long while the UNSC Infinity is only 3.

Exactly. Like criticizing the magnum for not feeling as powerful as the railgun.

And if you read the earlier post you’ll notice he meant the assault carrrier.
What type of carrier was that covenant ship infinity crashed into in spartan ops ?
was it a super carrier or normal carrier ? not so good on names when it comes too covy cruisers.

If Infinity tried to ram a Supercarrier it would bounce off of it’s shields/hull and explode.
An Assault Carrier is about the size of Infinity, so it’s not that either.
I’m not sure if 343i’s use of “Carrier” in that Bulletin was correct, because it obviously follows the more traditional cruiser classes.
I believe it to be a heavy cruiser, but technically it could be used as a carrier.

What do you mean?

It’s an RCS-class Armored Cruiser, as mentioned in the Halo 4 Visual Guide. It’s 218 meters longer than the usual CCS-class battlecruiser.
