Typical overpowered weapon reasoning/whining:

  1. Player joins game.

  2. Player gets owned by a weapon numerous times.

  3. Players tries to compensate their low self-esteem by claiming that the weapon in question is over-powered, thereby blaming the devs of the game (in this case, 343i) instead of accepting that they, the player, might not be as good at the game as they’d like.

Just admit it guys, this is why you complain about every weapon you think should be nerfed. Instead of whining, why not use that weapon?

Nice post OP.

Because if everyone used the same weapon the game would be boring? No variety sucks!

In my opinion there is only one overpowered weapon - the boltshot.
You can start with it, it’s charged shot is a OHK at longer range than the shotguns and it has an exploit that allows an instant second shot to be fired.

So far, I haven’t had any other issues with weapons.

The DMR is only a problem if you are not using the DMR

That’s because they post in anger and don’t think through a situation entirely. Personally from my point of view, Incineration Cannon can stay, it’s a one shot I don’t mind that, my only peeve with that gun is the bulbs that also OHKO you, but at the same time so is Rockets and Fuel Rod if you’re lucky. The only thing I have a problem with is the Binary Rifle and Scattershot

I’ve gotten this thing in Ordinance a few time with the Ammo Perk. It comes with 8 bullets because of it. That’s 2 away from a Frenzy, for free. As for the scattershot, it should of been more carefully implemented to accommodate for hitboxes. Twitter confirmed the largest hitbox in the game is the top of the head, meaning the reticule does not need to physically BE on the head for the Spartan to actually take damage (which is why on a good host sometimes the kill cam doesn’t show the reticule actually ON you, but this is also a latency issue, during LAN as well you can notice it)

As for the Scattershot, because of uneven hitboxes, the bullets don’t NEED to hit you to register. So from a range that a shotgun would take away half of your shields, the scatter registers on multiple hitboxes that it shouldn’t be, chest, head, arms, legs at the same time and you instead lose all your shield and with a faster rate of fire, it really comes back to bite you.

Am I saying these need to be removed entirely? Absolutely not, but I do think 343 should reduce the hitboxes to ONLY the Spartan. Forreal man, go into a custom game and aim about half a reticule off the Spartan while stationary. You’ll still hit him. Then try it with a scattershot and pay attention to where the bullets hit him, half of them shouldn’t register, but they do.

It’s a pet peeve and something I could live with, but I do cringe my eyebrow a little bit when I die by one every so often at a range I shouldn’t be.

Then again, OP, you are over-generalizing. There are plenty well thought out threads criticizing the game, yet you only look at a handful. You fail.

Typical follower post.

  1. Follower notice in a game he finally can kill someone.

  2. Comes to forums and degrades anyone who has any complaints about said game

  3. Good player comes in and says hahaha look at your k/d it proves you don’t understand the game

  4. Follower replies with I play for fun and mess around with my friends. Just because I’m not a tryhard doesn’t mean I don’t know how to play the game

  5. Good player says look at your past Halo service record you must have been messing around all the time

  6. Follower reports good player so he can’t post anymore.

  7. Then continues to bash anyone who says anything negative about the game.

Okay then, how about this:

  1. No more loadouts.
  2. Only available weapon is the DMR.

Simple, right? Except the problem is that it takes away from one major aspect Halo has had since CE–variety.

If one regular weapon trumps every other regular weapon, that’s bad. Granted it was okay in previous games, because you usually had to pick the weapon up because everyone started out with an Assault Rifle and a pistol.

But in a loadout system, where at any time someone can have such a weapon, it ruins variety. Why use the Battle Rifle when I can use the DMR, which is ultimately superior?

How about you learn how good game design works, then try and talk down to us.

(proud smile) Check my stats, still killing people with the AR, the Magnum, and my bare gauntlets the majority of the time. And still getting slaughtered by the boltshot and DMR because of HOW I play, not because they’re overpowered. Learn to switch up your style and you’ll be OK - everything has a counter in this game. (laughter) Except the self incineration cannon.

> their low self-esteem

Here is where a lot of the issue starts. And that goes waaay beyond a video game. They should go seek professional help.

There are plenty of things wrong with this game, but over-powered weapons are not one of them. It’s all about adapting to the situation. If somebody has an incineration cannon and you have a pistol, avoid that person or think up some sort of tactic to confront them.

> The DMR is only a problem if you are not using the DMR

QFT

and it is very funny when people moan about things like the incineration cannon or the binary rifle, they are POWER weapons, as in meant to be OP
