So before someone starts a flame thread I figured I’d try to open with a bit more level headed thread.
With Infection returning and then the reveal of the spot on Noble Team armors and the return of post game medals, the anticipation was very high that the hidden card was a Falcon, complete the best update in the longest time and would have silenced all but the most cynical haters that 343i didn’t listen.
However, this turned out to be false as it was not a Falcon, but a variant of the Phaeton. If it wasn’t going to be what we wanted, why build up so much hype that it could be? Yes, this was partially the communities fault for running with it, but if you had have just left the card blurred out, perhaps even just heavier than normal, we would assumed that it was the armor and infection, not the hidden Phaeton variant that was the high point in the update. So why’d ya do it? I’m normally quite supportive of you 343i, giving you the benefit of the doubt…but I was really disappointed this time.
Here’s hopin’ its a 3 seater Phaeton to atleast help fill the role of Falcon…
Edit: Can’t delete this so I’ll just apologize for my “whininess” in the post above. And the new Phaeton is actually kinda cool plus with the tie-in on the name.

I working on a paper to cite how MMC might have influenced that otherwise, plus the spaced out release instead of all at once…but yeah.

Not that I’m against a new Phaeton variant… but this update is called Memories of Reach. Why not just tell us it was a Phaeton in the first place, rather than build up all this hype making us think it was a Falcon?
There’d better be a Falcon in the Hog Wild update. It’s supposedly going to be vehicle-focused, so I’d expect it to contain a lot of brand-new vehicles (but hopefully not more vehicle skins).

Lets hope so…so far we haven’t gotten anything good.

Now you have a pretty strong correlation and case here, but I’m happy we’re atleast getting Infection.
In all fairness the hype came from the community. There was that I can see a falcon in the background blah blah blah.

I’m with you. I never got my hopes up when I saw the ONI card.
I don’t remember anyone promising a Falcon. I saw people wanting it to be a Falcon despite the fact of how useless they are right about now.

That’s exactly what happened, but its “Memories of Reach” and they did an on-point job with the armor so people assumed that since they had of gone to such great lengths to hide it, it had to be something super special.

I’m sleep deprived and loaded out with work…I’ll come back tomorrow afternoon when I’m mentally “sober” and reread this thread and see if it I still want to keep it up or just press the self-destruct button.

Still, surprised they went through so much smoke and mirrors hiding the Legendary req. Was the ONI symbol really necessary?
The hype was created by the community, not 343. Not saying we shouldn’t have a UNSC air vehicle by now, but expecting such a monumental order from 343 is setting yourself up for disappointment.
Yeah, just consider how similar the phaeton and falcon are though. If you put 2 gunner seats on the phaeton, it’d be almost identical…

Yeah why did they even add the Warthog it’s just a Mongoose with a gunner seat big deal.

After getting my paper turned in and getting some sleep…I’m re-reading this and I’m rather convinced this thread was just me whining and not contributing anything in the end. Unless there are objections, I’ll delete this thread in 24 hrs.

Someone on a different thread pointed out that the phaton had what looked like a gun on the undercarriage, it could possibly be a two person vechile.
