I’m just curious… How would different radars sound to people? If it does appeal, what type of radars would there be and how would each one vary and be obtained?
For an example Covenant Radar having a reduced range, no height indicator, but could reveal invisible enemies or Thermal radar which reveals immobile players but sprinting players can’t be seen (These are only suggestions I don’t know if these would be under or over powered). The different radars could also be upgrades found during the campaign also.
Perhaps these radars could be picked up similar to armor abilities from Halo Reach and in the campaign these could be obtained at campsites or by banished patrols or this could be an upgrade option in the campaign.
I’m just curious to hear what you guys think. I just want to see how this is received and see other’s ideas.
Thank you!
there was a post about customizable HUDs for multiplayer but it didnt whitch talks about this a bit im pretty sure
I mean this more as like a gameplay change and not a customization change but thank you for letting me know!

I’m unconvinced as unless it becomes equipment (i.e. only found in-maps) it takes us away from even starts for MP which is very important. And if it is equipment it’s a bit too situational.
I’m just not sure if it’s needed. I’ve never looked at the motion tracker and thought it needed any of the above. To be honest in H5 it’s already pretty bad at giving you warning of a sprinting player in MP.

Sorry for not making it clear but I did not intend to say that it would be selected at the start. I meant they would be found around the map.
I do understand some players don’t look at the radar. However some do and to an extent, rely heavily on it.
I can definitely see this not being present in the multiplayer though I do think possibly that this could be good in campaign as certain patrols may be hard to detect.

Yeah if it’s campaign only I could see some merit, but even then most of those you could probably get around with, for example night vision/thermal scope on the sniper or even setting on the visor for visual (which is canonical) over changes to the motion tracker. If we’re making it for campaign I think visual aid packages work better both for usefulness universally and for canonical accuracy
I agree with you there. I know little about the lore of Halo but I do believe then that different visors could be more logical for halo. I just wanted to provide the little idea and see if it gained any traction.

Oh absolutely - if people don’t put ideas out there there’d never be any innovation.

Yes, you are right, i created it, but i really didn’t talk much about radar settings. Brilliant ideas!

I’d be interested in an equipment pickup that acts as a motion detector! Maybe it pings your screen when it detects motion, or makes a noise. The Radar Jammer was pretty weak in Halo 3, and I’m trying to think of an information equipment item that isn’t too one sided. I think if it make anyone within it’s radius constantly appear on the radar, that would be an interesting change. You can’t throw it at your feet and get a free super radar without giving the enemy your location as well.
It’s an interesting idea, but I personally really would not want to see an immobility radar. The stealth playstyle has been made nigh impossible with the addition of Halo 5 as is.
As long as we are only talking about campaign, I think upgrades to the motion tracker are fine. Range, elevation, movement direction, enemy type/vehicle symbols rather than dots. No radar though, keep it a motion tracker, especially in multiplayer.
its probably going to stay in game and not be removed, since it was in all except halo ODST
i also heavily rely on it when trying to gather intel
