Types of Grenade Launcher players

Ah, the Grenade Launcher. One of Halo’s greatest gifts and the cause of many broken TVs. The Grenade Launcher is used by a plethora of people, some of whom could turn the tide of the game, or make a complete fool out of themselves upon acquiring it. In this post im going to give you the basic rundown of what to look for when you see a Grenade Launcher in the field.

The Noob.
These are the kids who are fresh from the Call of Duty franchise. They tend to poorly use it because they think its identical to CoD’s war machine, and therefore they;

  • Think the grenades explode on impact - Think the grenades are rapid fire and therefore disregard it’s limited ammo - Ignore the ricochet and treat it like a normal gun - and almost ignore the velocity of a grenade.A majority of these children tend to be screeching killjoys who overestimate themselves.
They arent much of a threat unless in close numbers. For these types of kids, you want to take a walk through the alpines, sit down, watch the sunset, and just shoot 'em in the back of the head.

Sparky
So the Noob has discovered the EMP function on his shiny new weapon! Well crap, more work for you. These players kinda sorta not really know what theyre doing. They know about the aiming mechanics and grenade velocity, but tend to use the EMP fuse wrong, and/or use it way to generously, which could lead into them becoming an Electro, which I’ll detail later on.
These guys can potentially be a threat if left unchecked. Chances are they dont know how to land a wet grenade down a corridor. A shotgun to the face would be the ideal method of execution.

Electro
So, after a decent amount of practice, and discovery of the Pro Pipe, these players are now able to be considered decent at the game, but also a presence to be cautious around. These guys abuse the Improved EMP last, and infinite fuse timer. These guys are the ones who could take your banshee out of the sky and hijack it in 5 seconds flat. Skill range, and therefore risk can vary anywhere from a low risk noob, to an apocalyptic Pipe Jesus. Take these guys out from a distance to avoid their EMP blast.

Pipe Jesus
These Players are to be feared by all. They are the SR 152s who will join a social game of slayer or super fiesta, stomp the whole enemy team without saying a word, then leave to never be seen again. These guys always pay attention to their motion tracker. They are the ones who cn ricochet grenades into unimaginable spots to kill you, can disable several vehicles, and always manage to land direct hits if within their line of sight. These players tend to be made up of veteran Reach players, or people with more luck than a Four leaf clover. These players can only be taken out from a distance, and is recommended to be taken out quickly.

The Mule
These guys can be frustrating. Not because they use the Pro Pipe and are akin to Pipe Jesus, but because they intentionally use it only to kill you indirectly with knockback. When you see that grenade land a few meters away from you, you cant think to move away and shoot the enemy before the knockback throws you off a cliff. These guys are the ones who you need to take out before they spot you. Otherwise, you’re a deadman.

The Mortar Man.
These guys are limited specifically to Warzone, as theyre main prey are AI. These guys can be frustrating. As soon as a new group of enemies spawn, they suddenly rain down dee-vine intervention. Its difficult to acheive a great score when you have these guys in your warzone game.

Mispelled a few words. Sorry bout that.

well… that was interesting to read…

Haha this was a fun read. I definitely want more post like these. Good post man.

Good post, accurate and funny to read. Personally I see myself as a Sparky, fairly decent with the GL. Nowhere near a Pipe Jesus.

I’m a sparky. Can’t use grenade launcher or plasma caster for -Yoink- all lol I can’t seem to get used to ricochet weapons, I don’t know why.

I’d probably fall between electro and pipe jesus, but leaning more to electro.
I know the bounce fairly well and definitely abuse being able to detonate it whenever I choose, and I can bounce it into some nice spots, but usually it will only land close enough to force you out of your hidey hole rather than just outright kill you.

If I see hit markers, be prepared for a frag to follow and my sights on where you’ll pop out of cover.

I really only use the Grenade Launcher as a Mortar Man. It’s the only way I ever get kills with it, AI or not.

I’m the guy who reqs a pro pipe and uses every shot but only gets 1 kill

This post is so very accurate. 10/10 I’m bookmarking it

The best post I have ever seen on waypoint! I would call myself an electro.

Lol… I must be Electro…Timer blast

You nailed these perfectly well done

Someone make a Weapon Stereotypes style video with this. Please.
(Im about 80% sure that “Pipe Jesus” title is from TF2 anyway so)

I’m none of these things, I use it as a rocket launcher…

You should turn these posts into Youtube videos. I’d watch it!

Trypal does Fortnite now, so there is a vacancy for H5 type videos…

It sounds conceded to say, but Pipe Jesus. The Grenade Launcher is probably my favorite power weapon to use, and the thing only got better damage wise from Reach, so it wasn’t hard to adjust to any learning curve.

The only thing that I needed to adjust to initially was my timing on shots, due to Halo 5’s thrusters, and the fact that players don’t walk in a straight line and move stupid slow like literally everyone does in Reach.

Nice! Its not Conceited. Well, its only conceited if youre extremely obnoxious about it, so youre fine.
