Two words:- "You OK"

Am I the only one who finds this questions asked of the Master Chief by Fred really annoying. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind the new Halo. It has it issues but so did all of them in the past and things got fixed. The new storyline is a massive departure from what we all expected.
But this one question annoys me because of where 343 has taken the storyline. Hell even Halsey now thinks he is unstable and a mental basket case.
He is the Master Chief, A Spartan, who has saved the universe 4 times. He has held it together in the face of insurmountable odds and come out on top. He has been trained as a boy to control his feelings and respond to orders.

OF COURSE HE IS @#$%^$( OK.

Doesn’t he say “You good?” not “You ok?”

He also thinks Cortana is dead and is emotionally traumatized by it. You would be too if you lost your best friend. Spartan or not.

3 times… he saved the universe 3 times… the first halo, the ark(and the first halos replacement), and the diadact

he didnt save a damm thing in halo 2.

Halo 2 the arbiter was the one that stopped the halo from firing while chief just rode a flying building back to earth (to save the world in halo 3)

Even if he is a Spartan and has been training and fighting since the age of six, John-117 still has an breaking point like anyone else. And thinking that Cortana died left him emotionally fractured, and because he finally realised what Cortana meant when she asked “Which one of us is the machine?”, and that he was the machine of the two.

Exactly! Lol. That’s one of the many reasons that Halo 2 places just barely above Halo 4 on the bottom of my list of favorite Halo games.

What’s wrong with a life-long teammate making sure his friend is okay? I know a lot of people around idealize master chief as an emotionless BA, but it’s called characterization, he’s nearly 50 years old, and lost many who were near to him, so why wouldn’t he be unstable after all he has gone through.

Everyone has a breaking point, and after years of constant service and the loss of Cortana, it doesn’t surprise me at all that it would have payed a heavy toll on his mind.

He’s the Chief, sure, but he ain’t invincible.

Lmao

Well counting cryo chamber time he’s almost 40, but in Halo 4 the Librarian accelerated his evolutionary proccess so it’s anyone’s guess, however his life span has been increased so he ages slower

He is emotionally traumatized by a computer that he spend less than 2 months with?
Come on.

If you recall in the Halo 4 opening, they mention that Spartan IIs often have psychological issues.

Uhh what? Less than 2 months? Lol.

Chief has a breaking point like everyone does. Soldiers aren’t machines, they’re just people.

False: Chief is a machine I read that once in a noncanonical story so it must be true. Also, I love your forum emblem.

He didn’t know if Cortana was alive in H3 either. He wasn’t emotionally traumatized or extremely emotional about it.

Really complaining about “You ok”…
