First off, bots. Multiplayer bots. I’m talking Unreal Tournament style bots where you have difficulties and they were actually really good. Bots would be great for when the game is old and no one plays it anymore. Bots were going to be in both Halo 2 and 3 so why not? They would be a great addition and I don’t see why not.
Secondly, A.I in Forge. We’ve been asking since Halo 2 Vista for A.I to be placeable. This could really change Forge and the community could do some extremely creative things with it. From meat grinders to jackal golf, it would be tons of fun. Have A.I spawners, simple A.I pathway thingys, spawn time, option to turn off the A.I (so they don’t respond to anything GMOD style), be able to enable and disable corpse collision and all this awesome stuff and Halo machinima can relive and go even further! The amount of stuff we could do with A.I would just be fantastic. It doesn’t have to be complex, I believe 343i could easily find a way to make it easy like they and Bungie have with everything else in Forge.
With the new hardware I believe we can do both of these things and really improve Halo. There are so many reasons why this is a good idea and I honestly don’t see why not. Please 343i, make this a thing! Your sales would boost and your rep will grow even higher. We’ve been asking for a while, please make it happen. I have trust. Do this and I would play forever, until the next game comes out of course I’m not asking for it to turn into Gmod obviously, I don’t want it to but A.I spawners and bots would just be so cool.
EDIT: Sorry I didn’t clear this up, I’m talking custom games bots. The bots will never be on matchmaking, only custom games by yourself or with friends you invited.
Not sure about bots, but AI in Forge (well, making Firefight maps in Forge) is one of the most requested features by fans for Halo 5. You can bet 343i has seen and at least considered it at this point.
I also would like to see bots as well, but unless they keep bots AWAY from online competitive in any form, no matter how well done the outcry would be disastrous. I’d say bots may be more trouble than they’re worth.
I had an idea for pretty much creating your own Halo adventure maps, which ties in with the Forge AI spawning. Here it is:

no. 343i didn’t even make reach first of all (Bungie did) and no they never had AI’s in anything outside of SP.
but onto the OP’s original proposals AI’s don’t work for halo because of forge and how the maps are never consistent, in order for something like AI’s to work in MP you would need some kind of system in place that can scan maps and build AI routes on the fly, its not impossible but its certainly difficult and its arguable whether or not its worth it.
If 343i can provide a functional way to allow the player to add navmeshes (meshes that indicate where it can and cannot go—this does not occur magically) to Forged structure, sure.
However, in the extremely likely event that creating a functional way to have the player coat their map in triangles in a way similar to coating an entire skyscraper in ductape that makes them want to jump headlong into a star, I’ll pass.
For a lack of better terms, the pessimistic point that I’m making is that the AI must be programmed to the map’s structure before it will correctly transverse the structure and when the player makes their own structure to the map, they’ll have to add the appropriate meshes to the structure themselves and as far as I know, the only ways I’ve seen to do that would be absolute hell on a console controller.
If someone proves me wrong, (Far Cry 3 won’t cut it) I’ll be quite pleased. I want to have AI in MP/Forge, but if adding that feature takes more money than it’s worth, no thanks.

I believe he was referring to the ODST’s appearing in the Firefight map known as Installation 04.

I never really got the chance to play ODST’s firefight, so thanks for clearing that up a bit.
you seem to know more about AI than I do so again thanks for explaining it better.
I haven’t read all the replies yet because, well, holy crap but bots would only be a custom game thing and would never be an online thing. Just so if the game ever becomes a classic like Halo 2 was and in the far future the servers go down, we’ll still be able to play with bots. I’m talking bots that act like they’re real life players not A.I as in marines and stuff in campaign.
Oh and to Andy, was going to say take Farcry 3 as an example but since I can’t, take Farcry 2 as an example XD. I know nothing about game design so I don’t understand how ot won’t work like how Farcry did, even if you explained it to me I’d still have no clue haha.
Hopefully 343i at least does one of these things, preferably somehow manages to do A.I in Forge. BTW, Comic Beast, brilliant idea. That would be so bloody awesome. I would reply and give feedback in further detail but as there was a lot of things to reply too I don’t want to make this comment too big or post twice in a row but seriously, great ideas! Really hope 343i sees this thread and others like it.
Personally i am all about MP in Halo, but I do indeed support bots. I have some friends who just cant stomach PvP, but love PvCPU.
And, Bots for forge would be well accepted by me. Especially since there is absolutely no support from 343i in terms of showcasing community created forge content in matchmaking, at least Bots would give us some playtime on the maps we create.
