- Ever since Halo began adding assassinations to the gameplay mix (Halo reach was the game in which they were added) players have been able to kill their foes with style, both in campaign and in multiplayer. By now, all Halo fans have felt the satisfaction of prolonging an enemy’s death, only so they could watch themselves be helplessly ravaged in the third person. So so far we have been able to assassinate fellow players in multiplayer, as well as most of the enemy’s in the campaign, but never hunters. Can you imagine how satisfying it would feel to stab one of those hulky, worm sacks to death and then using its giant fuel rod cannon of an arm to blast away foes?! However, Hunters are much too colossal to be man handled by a single person, even if they are a Spartan. This is why a two-player or “dual assassination” could be added here. Both players would have to approach their Hunter prey at the same time, one from the back and one from the front. With both players recklessly risking their lives to get into position they would both then press an hold the RB at the same general time. The player in front would strenuously hold down the gun-like arm of the hunter, allowing the Spartan in back to climb on top of its back(like the Chief in Forward Unto Dawn) so that he can freely yank worms out of the exposed neck section of the Hunter. While the Hunter is struggling against the attack he would automatically begin firing his fuel roc cannon which the first player could take advantage of by aiming his arm-gun at any of his frightened alien comrades. The opportunity to utilize the Hunter’s are would only last as long as it would take player 2 to perform the assassination, which could probably reasonably last at least 6-8 seconds. This gameplay mechanic would also be a cool way to introduce Halo players into what Hako readers already know: the charging behemoths we have grown to love to fear since Halo: Combat Evolved are actually nothing more than a big pile of intelligent worms. This could be made extremely evident by allowing the spartan on the hunter’s back to violently pull out and throw these worms on the ground. They could even slither away and shriek during the process. Not only would this be an extremely fun element for 343 to add to campaign gameplay in Halo 5. It would also be a great first step of assassination innovation for the Halo developers. Maybe in future titles they would add more heavy-class enemies for us to tackle and stab to death in pairs.
Just for future reference, a topic like this would be better suited for General Discussion.
On topic: I love the idea of a two player Hunter assassination!
That would be complicated, but sounds like a ton of fun
It sounds great just as described above. It would make for an awesome multiplayer “achievement.”
I just kind of like the idea of hunters basically being these biological tanks in the battlefield who cant be so easily dealt with like many others as them being colonies makes them less vulnerable to such things as knife attacks.
But if you happen to have some explosives then it’s surprise time for hunters but I don’t think there should be assassination animation ecactly, just to set them apart from the rest of them.
As for 2 players, if there still would be the option then Id rather see it in canon campaign too which is the singleplayer campaign, or has been at least, too.
Please don’t revive old topics thanks
