Two hours wasted!

I was playing Shutdown on legendary and got to the last tower, the part with the banshees. Well, I’m flying around in said banshee and a BS plasma overcharge hits me. The banshee loses power and I go plummeting to my death. What happens next? The game saved 1 second before the banshee explodes. Once I get respawned, dead. Again and again. I get to watch a loop of me dying over and over again with no way out. Awesome game design, 343. I wasted 2 hours trying to get a lame 4750 exp challenge and got screwed as a result. 3 years of development for a broken game. Wow.

You just got unlucky, it happenes in every Halo game.

That happened to me at least twice. It really isn’t that big of deal though. Shutdown is a really quick mission. You can do it in under 20 minutes on Legendary.

In my experiences, if you’re on a checkpoint that continuously gets you killed, it reverts to a previous one.

2 hours, you’re doing it wrong. That map can be finished in less then 10 min if you know what to do. Follow this video, there’s even a trick to skip 90% of the mission.

Right. If you get a checkpoint close to the moment you are dieing,a fter few times it reverts back to the previous one. SOmetime it’s also annoying, becouse there are some points of the missions that you have to go by “tryes”, and when you die too often it reverts you back ._.

Oh you can’t blame 343 for bad save points. That’s been an issue going all the way back to CE. Sometimes, the game picks the worst possible place to save a checkpoint. I know it sucks, I’ve been there in every single game in the series at one time or another.

Another save point issue I’ve had in all the games is the occasional lengthy duration between them. There have been a number of times where once I died, I had to re-do quite a lot of gameplay just to get back to where I died in order to figure out the solution.

i remember how reach fixed it, they made you go to the last checkpoint if you die within like 3 seconds of spawning. why do the not do that in halo 4?

There is already in Halo 4

In previous games if you died instantly over and over it sometimes went back two checkpoints instead. How many times did you die before deciding to quit?

If you waited longer it may have been OK, (unless they haven’t added that feature to Halo 4 for some reason).
