Two halo's Two seperate NIGHTFALLS?

“A strange and treacherous world exposes elite UNSC operatives to a much deeper danger” This is the official description of nightfall on waypoints homepage

Halo reach has a mission called nightfall, its gloomy dark just like nightfalls banner with the broken halo perhaps this suggests that locke has been with ONI since reach or earlier. perhaps while noble on reach locke was with a few others locating and destroying a halo same as chief before the pillar of autumn. this is pure theory
im not stating fact. correct me if the lore suggest otherwise.

thoughts?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure ONI didn’t know about the Halos until after the first game??

I reckon it’s quite likely Locke was on Reach, but he might not of been as it’s home of the Spartan IIIs. We don’t know yet when he became a Spartan, but he looks to me like there is some Forerunner stuff in his suit (blue glow) so he might of had no reason to be on reach, presuming he’s not a Spartan II or III and is as I expect a Spartan IV, or a highly unlikely prototype super rare premium elite stealth ONI Spartan V.

The Pillar of Autumn encountering Installation 04 was the first time the UNSC or the Covenant had found a Halo.

It is entirely possible that Locke is returning to Installation 04’s wreckage, though. If you’re going to follow in someone’s footsteps… you might as well start where the most important part of their journey began.

Oh… how everyone wants to be right about the setting.

What we can speculate from the Halo: Nightfall poster… it seems like a gloomy tale, confronting a critically damaged Forerunner Halo Installation which appears to be a Halo Array.

So we ask ourselves what Installation do we know have been critically damage? Installation 04 and Installation 05 (glassed).

In my opinion, due to the main targeted protagonist, Agent Locke, having such a fascination, or obssession, with John-117… it is Installation 04, due to the connection and role the Master Chief played in its discovery and destruction… which was the catalyst for what would become a victory against the Covenant Empire.

I believe this could be two possible options…

  1. The ONI Corvette accompanying the UNSC Mona Lisa… which ran into the Flood and took specimens aboard the UNSC Mona Lisa. And also follow the records of the UNSC Pillar Of Autumn…

  2. The ‘follow up’ vessel that investigated the disappearance, or abandonment, of the UNSC Rubicon above the critically damage Installation 00. This way it could re-introduce 343 Guilty Spark/Chakas… plus logically, ONI knowing that the Flood went to the Lesser Ark… and although assumed dead, may still have remnants left on the surface… so would take some Spartan-IV for protection… hence Locke’s ONI affiliation.

Also the title naming ‘Nightfall’ correlates to a Halo: Reach level of the same name… this mission was about infiltration and discovery… it was dark, gloomy, stealthy and unique… sounds like an ONI mission to me…
