Two Halo 5 Gameplay Suggestions for future updates

I’d like to suggest two additions to the suite of gameplay features in Halo 5. Please discuss and share this topic if you think it’s worth sharing.

*1.Grenade Utility: Frag grenades disperses Splinter Grenade

In Halo 5, the three unique grenades in the game have a certain utility to them. All of them have the ability to damage or kill, though some have greater or more specific utility than other.

Splinter grenades can be used to effectively block off routes in a game for 8 seconds before dispersing and can also do significant damage or kill an opponent with a direct impact. Another fun fact about the splinter grenade, if you didn’t know, is that the way in which the splinters spawn when the grenade explodes means that you can actually damage players through thin walls with a splinter grenade, such as the thin shields on the map Truth (though only a portion of the splinters appear on the other side of the wall you throw it at, it is enough to kill a weakened enemy).
Plasma grenades can be used to damage and kill opponents, but can also (as eeeeveryone knows) stick to an opponent for an instant kill. As well as the lethal component of its utility, the Plasma grenade can also be used to strategically launch weapons across distances for a neat Combat Evolved medal and a shiny new power weapon in hand.
The Frag Grenade however, is a nice bouncy friend to weaken or kill enemies and momentarily deny enemy movement. The major advantage to its use is that it bounces more than the other grenades, making it great to bank off of surfaces. Besides this though, it lacks utility, in my opinion. It can’t launch weapons across map like it did back in CE and it can’t deny enemy advances for much longer than it takes for you too run out of your two grenades.

So my proposal is this (and skip to this if you wanna skip right to THE POINT): the frag grenades should be able to be thrown into Splinter grenades and disperse them. If you’ve played Counter Strike, you’ll know that the smoke grenade is not only used for visual blocking, but also for dowsing the Molotovs (fire-grenades) that can block off routes and damage players. The frag should be used just like this, to sacrifice your grenade for the use of removing a pesky Splinter grenade, just as you would use a Plasma for weapon acquisition over hurting opponents and using a Splinter for blocking paths instead of directly damaging enemies. I think this would add another layer of strategy to the game. Would you use your frag to advance and lower your ability to damage opponents, or wait and maintain your ability to use that frag afterwards? Please discuss this in the comments.

2. Weapon dropping
One tedious component in competitive games is trying to find weapons on the ground to switch out your current weapons, whether you’re trying to swap a power weapon with a teammate or trying to deny the enemy access to a power weapon in a dire situation. I’m proposing that there should be a function to drop a weapon - as long as your have two weapons, which is of course the default in Halo 5 matchmaking. Imagine being able to drop rockets off of top mid to your teammate bottom mid to clear out enemies, throw that sniper off the map so that the enemy team can’t take it or drop that big boomer before you pick up the flag and PTFO. Perhaps holding Y would be a good button operation for this? Please discuss in the comments.

Yeah, yeah this absolutely should be added. Especially if I’ve got reqs that a buddy wants. A friend of mine is a specific-weapon maniac and is NO slouch with his beloved Blood of Suban. I have a damn-near-stockpile of those things, and I would love to more easily give him one.

The closest they have to this is the alert carry function in Forge.

I really like this suggestions.

why is why being able to drop both would be good… or dropping one and being able to switch to your empty slot would be good too

I’m pretty sure frags can destroy the sparks from splinter grenades. Didn’t that Halo 5 Mythbusters channel do a segment on it?

Weapon drops would be an interesting aspect in Warzone, in Arena I’d say no go imo

Maybe this should be allowed in custom game if the Machinima controls are active.
