Hi Spartan,
the community of Halo have a lot of old and news players. The forge gamemode its a really cool gamemode with friends and its really used in HaloReach. we really apreciate this. But i know the olds players with my need a lot of news objects and a more experimental tools in forge. But the problem for Halo 5 is that forge mode its really complicated for news players and many players don’t play with it because is really hard.
So i suggest 343 to make two forge gamemode ;
One classical (recommanded) for alls players,
-
magnets already actived. - control button simplified (no multi selectionned objects, no control for change (accidentally) objects move speed, … ) - similar to Halo 3/Halo reach forge with reorganized menu, - only some polygons, principaly structures, - some big building/structures already formed. - no script - no sounds, camera, - Lighting system simplified.And another mode (Experimental) for olds and experimented players
-
all other objetcs - all controls buttons - similar to Halo 5 forge - magnet not directly actived - all polygons and structures, - all difficult options - scripts and all other toolsbecause forge mode can’t its cool for everyone …
Wath do you thinks ?
I’ve said many times before that Halo 5 forge mode is only complicated for a legacy player, and then only for the first few days. Once you have the basic control scheme down then the complexity is conquered. Beyond the control scheme forge is only as complicated as you choose to make it. What might add unnecessary complexity (and cost?) to the game is asking the developer to build two separate but equal forge modes.
And as I’m looking at your classic forge mode I’m genuinely puzzled: Most of the things that you don’t want in a classic forge mode are things that you are not forced to use in Halo 5’s forge. No one is forcing you to use the power features, no one is forcing you to turn magnets off, or grasp multiple objects at once, or use scripts or fx or sound or any of the other things you listed. The only real difference I can see are “reorganized menu” and “pre-made buildings.” Is the Halo 5 forge menu really that hard to use? Is it really too difficult to build your own buildings and save them to your prefabs for quick and easy access in future projects? Or is it even harder to search everyone else’s prefabs for a suitable building so you don’t have to build it yourself? Although, why wouldn’t you want to build it yourself? I thought the whole point of forge was creativity?
Simply adding an in-game tutorial would be a better idea
