Two Forge features that MUST be added

  1. The ability to add custom call outs/area definitions. In Reach, there is the text next to your motion sensor on the screen saying where you are in the map. These are generally lame and not at all useful; especially so in Forge where it will typically say “Coastline” etc, or in other words, your actual position in the entire Forge World. The ability to make an entire map AND set definitions for call outs would make learning them much easier, and would also allow for much more efficient team work.

  2. The ability to set your own map photo from within Forge. When Forge World is picked in Reach matchmaking, all we see is the factory photo for Forge, and no picture at all of the map we are about to play on. This feature is more aesthetic than the call outs, but I think it would help immensely.

I hope to see these features along with a bunch of other cool stuff in Halo 4 Forge mode. What do you think about these?

Two great ideas that I couldn’t agree more with. Nice post.

Was expecting those two things to be flyable pelican and phantom.

But i agree 100% those features would be worth the effort.

I would prefer an undo and redo button.

I’ve always wanted these excellent ideas, OP. They wouldn’t even take much time to implement into the game. Both reasons make each map more original as well.

I especially like your first idea. It would be much easier to communicate with your team by saying exactly where you want certain players to go and they’d know exactly where they are at all times so people could work together more efficiently as a team. I like it.

> I would prefer an undo and redo button.

I think it’s safe to assume that we’ll get an ‘undo’ and ‘redo’ button in Halo 4 forge.

I also hope we get tools like joining certain piece together to form an individual object made of many objects and then another tool that you can copy and paste certain structures.

> honestly, i just want some weather effects.

This, but I think there’s more important tools to deal with before dealing with weather effects.

We need items such as elevators and open/close doors and automatic doors. Even placing buttons at certain areas on the map and assigning a function to them.

All of these ideas would all make forge so much better.

> I would prefer an undo and redo button.

This.

And copy and paste.

what i want is the reverse of items spawning after set time in custom games.

i want to be able to make forged items dissappear after a set time into the game.

this would make infection so fun. Imagine a map with a house you have to get inside, and the door is close when you get there. But after like a minute, it will open up.

honestly, i just want some weather effects.

> I would prefer an undo and redo button.

Your ideas are cool though!

> honestly, i just want some weather effects.

This too.

Wow, nice responses!

If anyone has the viewpoint of “but I took the time to learn call outs, why spoon feed it to new people” I get that too. I’ve taken the time to learn them as well, but it’s just really unfortunate when you make a call out in Matchmaking and not one of the randoms knows what you’re talking about.

Also, I really hope there is undo, redo, copy and paste as well.

OT: Skip forward in Theater as well ^.^

Agreed. I would also like an ‘undo’ feature, as well as some sort of grouping feature where you can weld objects together and move them around the map at your leisure. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished I could pick up an entire building or area of my map and move it a little. I refrain from doing so because I would have to completely rebuild it all.

Also the ability to remove “return to battlefield regions” (if implemented) and also to place “return to battlefield regions” would be cool.

They already have the ability to place and remove return to the battlefield regions.

Two great ideas.

Also:

  • Undo/Redo
  • Group/Ungroup
  • Copy/Paste
  • Weather/Daylight Effects
  • Different textures for pieces (metal, wood, grass, snow, sand, stone, etc.)
  • Doors with switches
  • Player trait area (A “territory” that alters player traits when in it, such as gravity, speed, jump height, damage, etc. Like the low-gravity zone in Anchor 9 and Zealot.)

Those are some of my ideas.

Spot on OP. Two great additions with little required to implement. Spot on.

Ability to set a new Origin, or coordinate 0,0.

Some times I wanna make something at an odd orientation, and have to work with difficult numbers/pitch goofiness…

Being able to set 0,0 where ever I want would make it a tad easier to line things up perfectly…mainly when using the coordinate control feature…

I agree they are 2 Good ideas that need to be implemented.

I would like to be able to set areas so that if you walk into it you would have the set trait. e.g. no gravity zone.

My god yes. And a Forerunner light bridge would be cool too.

an actual practical approach to forge ideas. thank you for this wonderful contribution
