Turtles shouldn't be a thing

Now I won’t hold out hope for a gigantic future patch or rework for this game. This is more in line for a possible sequel within the future.
If HW3 is to use a similar formula as it’s predecessor, I wouldn’t mind. If not encourage it. But it has to improve and fix the flaws from it’s past game.
One of which is turtling, as it’s way too effective, time consuming, and shouldn’t exist as something in practice. We’ve seen the videos of 5-6 hour games. I think it’s ridiculous it’s possible to have games this long, one thing is though to note. Late game gets so rigid within it’s strats comparatively to early and mid. I think adding additional units designed to deal with leader powers, spam builds, and base camping would be the best avenue to remedy this.

All you have to do to remedy a turtle is to add a feature where you can control a number of points on the map to start a defeat countdown for the turtler. AoE IV is doing that.

Precisely this.

Now, I’m certainly no Turtler myself, but I do have to respect the skill and discipline required to effectively Turtle.

Rushing by comparison is far easier to master and is more problematic as a behaviour against newer players

I mean, turtling is a valid strategy, but then again, in a 3v3, the only map you can turtle nearly unbreakably is Fissures on the island that only has one entry point, otherwise you can always flank them, it’s not that hard to break a turtle
