I’m fine with them changing the weapon skins and sounds, and even for making the ordnance drops and custom classes. I said on forums “They’re not turning the game into CoD guys, calm down, it’ll still have the same Halo gameplay at heart.”
But when I saw the horrible control scheme that pretty much throws the Halo vibe out of the game, I realized. “Damn, 343 actually thinks catering to the horrible Call of Duty community is going to sell more copies.”
Custom classes are alright, Reach did a similar thing, it wasn’t too bad. But when you put in the control scheme that makes CoD fanboys feel right at home it gets worse. Then there’s killstreak rewards, and killcams. It’s so obvious that 343i thinks this will sell more copies for them. Reach’s population is pretty minimal at this point, many people refuse to play the game because of bloom and the changes that has to the gameplay.
343, GUYS, IF PEOPLE THINK BLOOM IS TERRIBLE, AND THEY REFUSE TO PLAY THE GAME ANYMORE BECAUSE OF IT, WHY WOULD YOU PUT THAT AND MORE WORSE THINGS INTO THE GAME?
And then there’s things like Promethean vision and Promethean shield that throw off the gameplay way more than Armor Lock ever did. And again, killcams? Really?
This game isn’t even Halo anymore at this point, it’s just some ugly amalgamation of Call of Duty and Halo that was the result of 343’s greed. They just want to beat Call of Duty in sales, even if it means copying the whole games vibe. (The graphics are good though, at least you did something good with those)
tl;dr
343 is trying to turn the Halo series more into a Call of Duty feeling game to get more sales.
-killcams
-default sprint
-crouch being default for the B button
-ordnance drops/killstreaks
-custom classes
-sprint as clicking left stick
They’re not catering to the true fans, and they don’t seem to understand that the Halo community does not like change. Bungie made a big leap to the way Reach was from Halo 3, and now 343 is making an even more massive leap, instead of down one step like Reach was in terms of gameplay, they’re jumping down a whole flight of stairs. And although I can live with everything except the horrible control scheme and killcams, I just wish and wish that they’ll decide to make some changes before the game is released.
And if they don’t, I hope they learn their lesson. Although they probably won’t seeing as how stupid some of these changes are.

Call of Duty created video games and war in general too? Seriously these threads and posts claiming that anything in any game is copying Call of Duty are getting old and are plain wrong.
It’ll definitely sell well, Reach sold well. And I still loved the game, I’m just raging over the fact that they think it’s a great idea to take a bunch of features from a game that sells well because they expect it to have the same effect on Halo.
In the long run, I guarantee it’ll lose it’s community faster than Reach did.
I hope I’m wrong, and please, prove me wrong instead of calling me a raging troll.
Well i honestly agree with you. What they should do is try to make playlists that are completely Halo 3 style classic then other playlists that are more like Halo: Reach and finally the crappy CoD playlists.
And guys, I’m not oblivious to the fact that other games, and games before CoD had a bunch of the same features as Call of Duty.
I’m using it as an example because it’s the one of the top selling game series’ of all time. (if not the top)
And so it’s official killcams aren’t in the game? In one of the info leaks where he leaked Promethean vision and Spartan Ops he said they were in, he must have been wrong.
How is this a troll thread? I think this guy makes some very good points.
And I completely agree,
Change the control scheme back to normal and I’m fine with the game.

Well stop using Call of Duty as comparison when most features from Call of Duty are from older games. Also who cares when features from older and other games end up in a newer game? If the feature is popular and works well for the game who cares? I just don’t get this stigma of having common features from multiple games and making a standard set of features for a genre of game. This always happens and pointing it out further is so obvious and pointless.

apparently people dont realize that CoD was spun off by some of the producers of MoH.
And in 4, they took halo 2’s ranking and gameplay elements and Counter Strike’s loadout system.
So in a sense, CoD has been the frankenstein of games for years.
It’ll come back to bite 343 because a week after release, all the CoD players are going to go to Black Ops 2. I mean, why play a CoD imitation (Halo 4) when you can play the real thing?
In the end, Halo 4 will be a game that will lose CoD players and piss off the people that wanted Halo gameplay.
