i don’t want to make a new post that no one is ever going to support but…
in halo: reach you could turn off visible names in custom games. it meant that you wouldn’t be able to see each others blaring names above their heads. you could be stealthy and actually tactical.
the active camo is dumb and it is not a substitute for ‘no names’.
i’ve been playing a lot of ghost recon before halo 4. and i think i might go back to ghost recon, and other games if halo doesn’t let go of its arcade roots.
in short, i want the visible names gone.
i at least want the option to turn names off in custom games, the same that existed in halo: reach.
please 343, my request is way easier to fix than anybody elses problems.

The name appearing over heads is the single most irritating feature of custom gaming in Halo 4. I usually play one on one matches and this feature removes the challenge - and the fun - out of finding your opponent with your eyes and brains, as well making any stealth tactics virtually pointless. Halo is an ideal platform for this type of gameplay - or would be if the game didn’t stick its nose into it all to say “Here he is. You may not be able to see him but just aim right here.”
Not only does it take the challenge away, it robs any sense of achievement out of a kill, because the game is doing half the work for you. If all you care about is piling up kills, the feature makes sense, but for those of us who enjoy working for our achievements, it’s counter-productive.
Some players may like the feature, and that’s fine, but at least give the rest of us the option to turn the damn thing off!!
All I see here is a bunch of neo-halo players crying over something that has been in Halo since day 1. Having a name appear above your head wouldn’t increase or decrease anyone’s skill by a plotable number. Halo isn’t a stealth game like Ghost Recon or any of those other MilSim games. Halo is a teamwork and arena-style game, at it’s core.
On the “take away ‘x’, skill +/-”, token, let’s go back to how Halo used to be for almost a decade and “see who really has skill”.
“My problems are easier to fix than everyone else’s problems” is a huge testament to your selfishness and immaturity. Your poll is also extremely biased. Also, if you don’t like “arcade shooters”, and you named a MilSim shooter that you prefer, why the hell are you playing Halo?
