In Halo 3 you were able to start a game, then if you delay the countdown it would shut off the music.
Hopefully that same feature or something better gets added.

This. I’m sick of it always going, especially since I have to play music off my laptop since there’s no background custom music on the Xbox One, even a year after launch. Don’t even get me started on that…

Yes, please if 343 could put game sound volume as an adjustment in the audio/video settings? Its not that its just the background music playing all the time, even in game the sound is all messed up and being able to turn that down would be a good fix. Turning ones TV down isnt what I’m looking for either, as its a balance issue for headphone users. Even with a mix amp and the chat pad… but please fix matchmaking first by all means!

I love the music playing all the time in the menu. It’s very nostalgic, it gives me that ‘Halo’ feel. I would’ve never believed ANYONE would find it annoying.

There is an option, it’s called your Volume button. Who wouldn’t want to hear Halo menu soundtrack? You guys are nuts.
It would be nice to have control over the volume of the music. (Separate from the game sounds)

Surely it has not gotten to the point where we are complaining about background music. Let’s have them fix the rest of the game before moving on to the trivial stuff.
Turn it off during searching for matchmaking!!! That’s not how halo is its sooooo annoying!
Of all the things in this game to complain about, you babies whine over menu music? Seriously? Sure, a mixer to adjust in-game music levels would be great, but don’t you dare get rid of it. Halo music is great and it’s the only thing that makes the long search times bearable.
To the ones telling people to just turn down their tv or mute, that really is not a solution. Every halo game up to this point has stopped the music when you entered into a multiplayer menu. There is no reason this one should be any different. I friggin love the halo soundtracks, but if you play this game more an 30 minutes a day, it starts to drive you insane with it playing all the time. Yes, I do mute it. But its extremely inconvenient and is just another example of 343’s lack of experience in knowing how to handle a fantastic AAA title. The constant issues facing this game are really quite inexcusable since the tech has been around a decade. The troubles have already ran most of my friends off.
All troubles aside, I have enjoyed the great matches I have gotten into, but the music, gawd. We deserve options dangit. Merica
Well, the music is one of the greatest things about Halo. I would never think of it as a hindrance or anything. I DO want options to change what tracks I want to play during the multiplayer lobby.
