Turn off banning for quitting Big Team Battle

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but i think the ban system should be removed from socials.

The argument used for the ban is that the remaining players would be hurt by it. But i doubt that very much.

Infinite is not MCC. Where in MCC you would have to continue with a player less in your team, in infinite there is join in progess to fill up the teams again. And as long as there is no one found yet, a bot will fill that spot, so matches in socials will always be 4v4 and 12v12.

A quitban will only result in (some) players who don’t want to play that match to go AFK wich WILL leave you with a player short. I rather have those replaced with a new player and in the time in between with a bot. That is way better.

Ofcourse in ranked there is no JIP or bot-fillers, so the quitban should be in place there.

You say that but Halo MCC has a very comprehensive match composer and has done for a long time, and yet it’s still always been rife with trolls and quitters and it’s still got quit bans.

What are you talking about? Gameplay is 100% irrelevant here. People don’t quit because of the gameplay. If they don’t like the gameplay, they aren’t playing the game in the first place. They quit because of things like unfair matchmaking or getting stuck on a map or mode they don’t want to play. That’s identical for both Halo and COD.

Which just shows quit bans are pointless and do nothing.

As long as selfish individuals keep infecting matches it’ll always have it as well. The franchise has had them in since Halo 2 after all.

People need to learn what sportsmanship.

Then they can enjoy their bans then.
That’s what we call consequences for ones actions…

So your argument is that it’s OK or good for Halo to have a problem that other shooters solved a long time ago. Interesting. I’m out.

They still have that problem, it’s just that the selfish people got what they want so they ignore the fact that the problem is still there.

MCC has every choices OP ask for and is still plagued with quitters. Ban system is absolutely not treating the symptom and ignoring the problem unlike someone said earlier. People too weak to control themselves because the match does not go the way they want has nothing to do with game mode variety. MCC proves it. Asking for no penalty for quitting just shows how little respect OP has for players other than himself. Quitters are like cheaters. They ruin the game for everyone and they need to be handled. For cheating it should be ban hardware. For quitters it should be ban for entire days/weeks if that happens too often. There are no punishment system harsh enough for people that ruin other people games voluntarily in multiplayers games.

How could that be???

If a ban system is addressing the problem, why is it that the MCC has never been able to address quitters, even though they have increased the severity of their ban system at least two times in its life? If increasing the severity of a ban system has never worked before, on what evidence do you think further increasing the severity will work in the future?

No, it doesn’t show that, because we don’t know how exactly how often it occurs with quit bans vs without.

What it does show is that people will still quit plenty regardless of whether or not they have a match composer that lets them pick the exact mode they want to play.

The reality is all of the people in this thread arguing about it saying they don’t care about anyone else’s experiences and that they’ll leave if they have to play a single match of a mode they don’t want to play are also the people who will leave the minute they start to lose on modes they do want to play, because they’re just -Yoink!- holes, plain and simple.

If a match composer would address the problem why is it that the MCC has never been able to address quitters despite having a very comprehensive match composer?

All of the things you’re arguing for have been in the MCC for years and by your own admittance quitting is still a problem that isn’t addressed in that game.

Halo is the only shooter I can think of that is plagued with an unsolved quitting problem in its social/unranked matchmaking. As I’ve argued, most or all other franchises have solved this, and none have done so with quit bans in their social matchmaking.

Match composer.
No quit penalty.
Join in progress.
No penalty for losing join in progress games.

COD solved this like 10 years ago.

Its called tunnel vision. Those dudes always demand harsher quit penalties with the argument that it would solve the problem. If after they got there way (like on MCC happened) and it did not solve anything (even worsened it with more AFK-players and more smurfaccounts wich creates more one-sided matches that was one of the problems), they just shout the same thing, over and over and over again.

They are just in that tunnel vision and some perhaps even self sentered, because they dont seem to recognise that in Infinite you dont end up with less players, because another will fill in (or otherwise a bot untill there is another). But they want to have that perticular player have a bad time (for whatever reason), because they don’t want another dude in there team? It doesn’t make any sense.

Because the problem is the people. Not the game. At least not with MCC that has everything in term of gametype choice. The argument against ban system are just coming from people that try to hide their own nuisance potential behind fake excuses. Yes Halo infinite needs more ways to choose game type. But ban systems needs and will stay. I’ve read people say Halo had one of the harder ban system.

LOL

Look at CSGO. When you quit you can sometime get 7 days ban. I hope Halo get this too so we can read more people crying how unfair it is when they acted like trash with the other player unfortunate enough to have played with them.

Hum… 10 years ago you say?

Quick google search gave me several links, from 2 years ago to today about people having issues with people rage quitting out of Call of Duty Matches… So that was apparently a lie.

" Dear Dev’s, in regards to Rage Quitters…

Do you plan on enforcing a punishment for Rage Quitters? 10 minute ban’s as a quick suggestion.

I bring this up because there is going to be people adjusting to the new game, or want to keep their stats, or playing competitively.

That being said, what can you as developers do to prevent the onslaught of rage quitting people so their actions do not effect the outcome of the game for other players?

Better example: 4 rage quits within a 24 hour period gives you 10 minute lock out.

Consider this as a cool off timer. Do it again, another average TDM match length."

Just to toss up a few articles out of the bunch that I saw…

Man, if you’re just gonna ignore everyone’s points why bother replying at all lol

They don’t care about anybody except themselves.

I agree with this. Join-in-progress and the new bot system that they have should eliminate or significantly reduce the effects of quitting. And BTB being the primary social game type currently should not punish for quitting. In Ranked, 100% there should be a penalty. But social needs to loosen up a bit.
