TU is more balanced, but too fast!

It’s way to fast.

Every weapon kills faster, movement speed is higher, and so on. Halo 4 was already fast for a halo game, between sprint, the low respawn delay, etc, but it was bearable.

In fact, it’s so fast, it barely feels like halo, and a lot of the skill is taken out. It’s become “Who shoots first wins”. You don’t have time to react, respond, and use positioning and tactics to turn the table.

I had high hopes for the TU, and though it is balanced, I can’t play the game. It’s simply does not feel like halo anymore.

EDIT: I am NOT talking about kill times. They are merely a factor.

EDIT 2: I have been playing halo since CE, and it has never felt this fast. Please don’t tell me I haven’t played the games, I have.

Also, here’s a good example of why being this fast is a bad thing: http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/9646/1370318244186edited.png

I fully agree with you dude, it’s become a bad clone of CoD.

To add, this TU may have lost you one of your most ardent fans.

I’ve played halo since CE, and am deeply invested in the universe. I own every book, every comic, every piece of merchandise I can lay my hands on.

When halo 4 came out, I didn’t like it as much as previous games, but I was OK with it. You guys did a phenomenal job with the environments, and implementing the bigger picture into the story.

But this is ridiculous. 343. I don’t want to have to leave halo behind. I love it to much.

But you are giving me little choice.

I saw this coming they day they posted what was going to change. I still think the only thing that needed changing was the reduction of the DMR RRR and default 110% speed.

They added a buff to every weapon but the DMR, who didn’t see this coming? I haven’t even played this yet and I see the AR and SAW being godlike at close range.

Really now?

> Really now?

Yes, really.

We’ve debated issues before, sitri. What do you disagree with this time? You think the fast paced makes the game more skilled?

There’s more to skill than accuracy and speed. But that’s all that really matters now.

> Really now?

I can never be CE with sprint in the game.

And positioning.

And weapon control.

And spawn control.

And CE had Instant Spawn.

Postioning only matters before the first shot is fired now. Once combat starts, it barely matters.

Contrast this with the slower games where even if somebody got the drop on you, a skilled, smart player could turn the tide by moving and feinting and tactically thinking.

Weapon control is much less of a factor in 4, and less so after the TU. All of the non power weapons were buffed.

And just because it was CE doesn’t make it good.

> And just because it was CE doesn’t make it good.

Yes it does.

But seriously:

> Postioning only matters before the first shot is fired now. Once combat starts, it barely matters.

No it doesn’t. Players who position themselves properly are able to escape battles, get behind cover, or get near teammates to provide assistance.

> Contrast this with the slower games where even if somebody got the drop on you, a skilled, smart player could turn the tide by moving and feinting and tactically thinking.

The difference being that in the faster Halo games, you can properly maneuver around and away from shots to make your opponent miss.

> Weapon control is much less of a factor in 4, and less so after the TU. All of the non power weapons were buffed.

Power weapons are still power weapons. They just require more skill to use now.

> > And just because it was CE doesn’t make it good.

CE wasn’t this infallible, perfect game. It had flaws.

Fast spawns demean death. There is less incentive for self preservation, and getting a kill means less.

There are more people on the map, it get’s more hectic. It speeds up the game (which, as I have explained, can be a good or bad thing).

EDIT: So were you joking?

> No it doesn’t. Players who position themselves properly are able to escape battles, get behind cover, or get near teammates to provide assistance.

That’s much less true now that the weapons take less time to kill.

> The difference being that in the faster Halo games, you can properly maneuver around and away from shots to make your opponent miss.

In theory, that would make sense. But I don’t feel that that is actually the case.
In reach, it was slow, but every encounter felt long. You always felt like you had a chance to fight back.

Now in 4, I get shot, then not 2-3 seconds later the fight is over.

> Power weapons are still power weapons. They just require more skill to use now.

Because they are less powerful. And thus, has less of an impact on map control.

I’ve only played one game of Slayer Pro and the speed felt GREAT for Halo. Brings me back to my Halo 2 days.

I haven’t even played the updated settings yet, but faster kill times = higher skill gap.

> I’ve only played one game of Slayer Pro and the speed felt GREAT for Halo. Brings me back to my Halo 2 days.

Halo 2 was my favorite halo game, and this is NOTHING like it.

> I haven’t even played the updated settings yet, but faster kill times = higher skill gap.

Read some of my posts.

That’s not necessarily true.

I disagree. The movement speed (strafe needs work) and the BR feel a lot like Halo 2. Like I said though, I’ve only played one game of PRO. That feeling could change real quick once I play that Infinity garbage.

> I haven’t even played the updated settings yet, but faster kill times = higher skill gap.

So swat takes the most skill?

I was against messing up entire sandbox, but since they’ve done it, I only hope it’s balanced (still too early to judge for me). Other than that I’m ok with faster kill times in general. Since Slayer Pro infested Infinity I play more Halo Anniversary than Halo 4, so when you get use to 3sk Pistol, 4sk BR feels slow.

When I say the game is too fast, I mean more than just kill times and movement speed. The pace of the game, the FEELING of speed, is more than the sum of it’s parts.

Halo 4 feels too fast. It’s likely a combination of the respawn times, sprint, the movement speed, the kill times, and a bunch of other minor factors.

The game is more skillful now, faster killtimes mesh well with sprint.

The faster movement makes strafe more effective, which may make the game harder for some players.

This TU has drastically improved the game. Sorry that you don’t like it OP. :’(.
