The title update went live earlier this afternoon, and one of the changes that it brought to the game was the return of the “X” marker above dead teammates. This new “X” system is a bit different from the old standard system from Halo 2-Halo Reach, in that the “X” is now attached to your body, and fades away in about 1-1.5 seconds. When I say the “X” is attached to the body, I mean that if you are rocketed, or fall off of the map, the “X” will travel with that body instead of staying right where you were killed as it did in the previous Halos.
These are two small changes to this system, but they really do make a big difference. I was wondering what the overall player base on these boards thought of these changes, so I added a poll to this thread. Personally I would much rather have the older system back, since by the time you say “On my X!” that X has already vanished, which basically defeats the purpose of having this system to begin with. I would like to see the “X” stay on the ground where the player was killed, until they have respawned.
I know, I know. I just wanted to get a poll into one of these topics so I could visually see a number, representing people’s opinions on this topic. Sorry! x.x
I voted for the bottom option because I think the timed X is a necessary implementation. Since this game has the instant respawn option, if it were to be “until respawn,” it would be a tiny blip.
Having it exist for a set amount of time solves this problem, and I think it’s a necessary change.
I do because I can return to ambushing the dummies that flock to the X like i used to in the older Halo games. It only makes it easier to kill people now.
It travels with the dead body? I feel like that might be an interesting mechanic in playlists w/o instant respawn. Players could potentially move the bodies around to throw each other off.

They would have about a second to move that body around. I don’t see it throwing anyone off.
> Why isn’t there an I don’t care and was smart enough to watch my team’s tags choice?
I don’t like when people give ambivalent answer options in polls, because choosing an option like “whatevs, I aint care!” doesn’t say anything other than someone that didn’t care about the issue at hand, stumbled into a thread they don’t care about. If you don’t care enough about the polling subject at hand, then you just don’t vote, and move on. No big deal.

It’s an important statistic if a person is indifferent. Don’t get your -Yoink!- in a bunch because you don’t understand that it’s an important part of stat collecting.
I played some games early morning after I heard that the TU was available. TBH I forgot about the x and didn’t notice it until about 2 or 3 games in. It probably does need a fix. Either way when someone says “on my x” I’ll probably have an idea of where it’s at. It certainly needs fixed a bit though.

Maybe what I said came off as angry to you, but I was just trying to explain why I didn’t include it in the poll since you asked. No butt hurt on this end, just responding, so sorry if it appeared that way.
